Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this mobile game called “Monopoly GO!” lately. Yeah, I know, another mobile game, but hear me out. It’s kind of got me hooked, not gonna lie.
Started out like any other day. I downloaded the game from the app store – you know the drill. Booted it up, and right off the bat, it’s not your grandma’s Monopoly. It’s got this whole different vibe, all colorful and animated.
First thing I did was roll the dice, just like in the board game. Except here, you’re not just moving around a board buying properties. You’re building up cities. Each city’s got these landmarks, five of them, and you gotta build and upgrade ’em. I spent a good chunk of time just tapping away, building up my first city. It was pretty satisfying watching it grow, I gotta say.
- Roll the dice.
- Land on a spot.
- Collect some in-game cash.
- Build up those landmarks.
As I kept playing, I unlocked more cities. Each one’s got its own look and feel. I noticed that as you upgrade the landmarks, you also add houses to your board. More houses, more rent, right? That’s the name of the game.
But here’s the catch, at least from what I’ve seen so far. There are so many players want trade 1:1. Seems impossible.
I read some reviews online. Some folks are saying it’s a total time-waster, all about the in-app purchases. Some people say it is a waste of time to save your dice and wait for the sticker season to be over. I can see where they’re coming from. There are a lot of ads, and it’s easy to see how someone could drop a lot of cash on this game.
But here’s my take: if you go into it knowing it’s a casual, free-to-play game, it’s actually pretty fun. I mean, I haven’t spent any real money on it, and I’m still enjoying it. It’s a good way to kill some time, you know?
Someone asked “Can You Actually Finish Monopoly Go?” I found that it seemed that you can finish it. But it is hard and needs some strategy.
So, that’s my little adventure with “Monopoly GO!” so far. It’s not perfect, but it’s a decent little time-killer. If you’re into these kinds of games, maybe give it a shot. Just don’t go spending your life savings on it, alright?
My advice?
Just play it casual. Don’t take it too seriously. And for the love of all that is holy, don’t spend any money on it. There are better things to spend your money on, like, I don’t know, actual board games?
