So, I was hyped to finally get my hands on Black Myth: Wukong. You know, the game everyone’s been talking about? Got it downloaded, fired it up, and bam! Kept crashing on me. The error message? “Out of Memory.” Specifically, something about the shader cache. What gives?
First off, I checked my drivers. I have got a pretty decent graphics card, but hey, drivers get old, right? Turns out, they were a bit behind the times. So, I went ahead and updated those bad boys to the latest version. Figured that would solve everything. It is August 25, 2024 today and they released an update for the driver just a few days ago.
But nope, still crashing. Next thought was maybe the game just needed more room to breathe. I remembered reading something a while ago about shader cache size. Apparently, Black Myth: Wukong can be a bit of a hog when it comes to this. I dug around in the graphics settings, found the shader cache option, and cranked it up. I was like, “Alright game, have all the space you need!”
Launched the game again, fingers crossed. Played for a bit longer this time, got into a pretty sweet fight scene… and then, crash. Same error. Ugh.
Now, I was starting to get a little worried. My CPU is a 14th-gen Intel, and I know some folks with 13th and 14th-gen Intel chips had been having problems with some games. Started to think, “Is this a pattern?”
But here’s the thing, after messing around some more, I finally managed to get the game running stable by combining those two fixes. Updated drivers and bumping up the shader cache size did the trick. It’s been smooth sailing ever since. Feels good to finally be exploring that world without the game throwing a tantrum every few minutes.
So, if you’re running into the same “Out of Memory” issue with Black Myth: Wukong, here’s what I did:
- Update your graphics drivers. Seriously, just do it. It’s good practice anyway.
- Increase your shader cache size. Give the game some extra space to store its stuff.
Hope this helps someone out there! It was a pain to figure out, but totally worth it in the end. Now, if you will excuse me, I have got a Monkey King to control and some demons to kick.
