Alright, let’s talk about this Roger Clemens fella and that Mindy McCready gal. I heard tell about it on the TV, you know, the one with the pictures. Roger Clemens and Mindy McCready, that’s what they was talkin’ ’bout.
Now, from what I gather, this Roger, he was a big shot baseball player. Hit them balls real far, I reckon. And Mindy, she was a singer, sang them country songs. Pretty little thing, from what I seen in them pictures. But Lord have mercy, the things they got tangled up in!
- First off, they say Mindy was just a young’un, barely 15, when she met this Roger. Fifteen! That’s just a baby, ain’t it? He was a grown man, shoulda known better.
- And they sayin’ they had a thing goin’ on, a “relationship” they called it. For like, ten years! That’s a long time to be sneakin’ around, I tell ya.
I heard tell they met in some bar down in Florida. Fort Myers, I think they called it. The Hired Hand, that was the name. Sounds like a rough place, if you ask me. Anyway, Mindy, she goes back to Roger’s hotel room. Now, they sayin’ nothin’ happened that night, but I don’t know. Where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire, that’s what my old pappy used to say.
This whole thing, it was a big ol’ mess. Roger, he was married, ya know. Had a wife and kids, I bet. And Mindy, well, she was just a young girl lookin’ for somethin’, I guess. Maybe she thought Roger was gonna marry her, make her a big star. But that ain’t how it worked out, no sir.
I heard Mindy say she broke it off with Roger ’cause he wouldn’t marry her. Can’t say I blame her. A man oughta do right by a woman, especially if he’s been messin’ around with her for ten years. But Roger, he just kept playin’ his baseball, pretendin’ like nothin’ happened.
Folks was talkin’, of course. The newspapers, they was all over it. “Scandalous fling,” they called it. And I reckon it was. It ain’t right, a grown man messin’ around with a young girl like that. And it ain’t right cheatin’ on your wife, neither.
Now, Roger, he’s done with baseball, I hear. Playin’ with his grandkids now, they say. And he’s got some charity thing he does, helpin’ kids. Well, that’s good, I guess. But it don’t erase what he did. And Mindy, bless her heart, she ain’t with us no more. Passed away a few years back. Sad, real sad.
So, that’s the story, as best as I can tell it. Roger Clemens and Mindy McCready. A baseball player and a country singer. A ten-year affair. A whole lotta heartache. It just goes to show ya, life can be a real mess sometimes. And sometimes, folks just don’t do the right thing. It’s a shame, it really is.
But that’s life, ain’t it? Full of twists and turns, good times and bad. And all we can do is try to make sense of it all, try to learn from the mistakes of others. And maybe, just maybe, try to be a little bit better ourselves.
