Alright, let’s talk about this fella, Taylor Pendrith, and what’s in his golf bag. You know, the stuff he uses to whack them balls real far. Folks call it his “witb,” which I guess means what’s in the bag. Sounds fancy, but it’s just a bunch of sticks to me.
Driver: He’s got this Ping G430 LST thingamajig. Says it’s a 9, but he sets it at 8. Whatever that means. And some kinda stick called Accra TZ Six ST 65 M5. Sounds like a bunch of gibberish to me, but I reckon it helps him hit the ball a country mile. He’s a long hitter, that boy, real long. Reminds me of old man Johnson back home, used to knock them balls clean over the pasture fence.
3-wood: Then there’s this other Ping club, the G430 Max. A 15, they say. Probably for when he ain’t trying to knock the cover off the ball, just wants to get it close-ish to the green. You know, like when you’re trying to get the eggs into the basket without breaking ’em. Gotta be gentle sometimes. This club, I hear, helps him do just that on the golf course, keeps it nice and straight.
- Irons: Now, this is where it gets complicated. He’s got a whole mess of irons. Ping i230s, they call ’em. From a 4-iron all the way to a pitching wedge. I guess each one is for a different kinda shot. Like, you know, one for getting over the water, one for getting out of the tall grass, and one for when you’re close to the green. It’s all a bit much for me. Back in my day, we just had one stick and we made it work. But these young fellas, they need all sorts of fancy tools.
- Wedges: And speaking of getting close to the green, he’s got some wedges too. Titleist Vokey SM9s. A 50-degree, a 56-degree, and a 60-degree. For when you gotta get the ball up in the air real quick and make it stop fast. Like when you’re trying to land a fly on a cow’s back without spooking it. Gotta be precise, you see. These wedges, they help him be real precise, especially around the green, which is important for scoring well.
Putter: And then there’s the putter. A Ping PLD Anser 2. That’s the stick he uses to roll the ball into the hole when he’s on the green. You know, the easy part. Though, I’ve seen some fellas make a mess of it even then. Putting, it’s all about the touch, you know. Gotta have a soft hand and a good eye. This putter, it seems to work for him, helps him get that ball rolling just right. I always say, it ain’t how hard you hit it, it’s where you hit it. Same goes for putting.
Ball: And what kind of ball does he use? A Titleist Pro V1. Seems like everyone uses them Pro V1s. Must be good, I reckon. Though, I bet you I could hit a rock just as far if I put my mind to it. They say these balls are special, give you more distance and better feel around the greens, but to me, a ball is a ball. You hit it hard, it goes far. That’s all there is to it. But I guess these fellas gotta use what they gotta use. It’s their job, after all.
Overall: So, that’s Taylor Pendrith’s “witb.” A bunch of fancy sticks and balls, if you ask me. But hey, he seems to know what he’s doing with ’em. He won that Byron Nelson tournament, they say. That’s a big deal, I guess. Means he’s pretty good at whacking them balls. He just seems like a nice fella who hits the ball a long way, and that’s all that matters to me. He’s got a good swing, that’s for sure. Reminds me of my husband back in the day, he could really wallop that ball. Good times.
Golf equipment reviews: He likes looking at all the newest gear they have for the golf now days. I heard he started looking at this stuff when he first started playing, wanting the best there is. He wants the best, I hear, and he goes out and gets it. He does his homework and picks the tools that’ll help him get the job done. Can’t fault him for that, I suppose. Always good to have the right tools for the job.
So, there you have it. Taylor Pendrith’s golf bag. A bunch of clubs and balls that help him play this here game of golf. It’s a lot more complicated than it used to be, that’s for sure. But as long as he’s hitting them balls straight and getting them in the hole, I guess it doesn’t matter what kind of sticks he’s using. He seems like a fine young fella and that’s good enough for me. Golf is golf, and a win is a win, no matter how you slice it.
