Alright, let me tell you how I got my hands on Drang again. It’s one of those Destiny things, right? You need a specific gun, maybe ’cause you got Sturm, or you just heard it’s decent, and then you gotta figure out where the heck it comes from now.

So, first thing I did, I remembered needing it for Sturm, that fancy exotic hand cannon. They work together, you see. Drang reloads Sturm on kills, and Sturm reloads Drang. Pretty neat combo.
My first thought was, okay, where did I get it last time? Ages ago, it felt like. There was some quest involved, something on Nessus I think? With that old Cryptarch lady, Tyra Karn. Yeah, that wasn’t helpful anymore. That whole thing got vaulted or changed, like half the stuff in this game.
Finding the Dang Thing Now
So I had to figure out the new way. Turns out, it’s simpler now, but also kinda random.
- Check the Gunsmith: My main stop was Banshee-44 in the Tower. He sells a rotating selection of world drop weapons. I just started checking his inventory every day when the reset happened. You gotta be patient sometimes. He might not have it for days, even weeks. It’s just luck of the draw.
- Visit Xur: Then there’s Xur, the tentacle-faced guy who shows up on weekends. Sometimes he sells old weapons, including Drang. You gotta find where he’s hiding each weekend and check his stock. Again, totally random if he’ll have it.
- Legendary Engrams: It’s also in the general “world loot pool”. This means any Legendary engram you get just from playing the game – strikes, Crucible, Gambit, random drops off enemies – could decrypt into a Drang. But man, the loot pool is huge, so praying for one specific gun this way is like finding a specific needle in a giant stack of needles. Not reliable.
The Waiting Game and Finally Getting It
For me, it was Banshee. I just made it part of my routine. Log in, fly to the Tower, run over to Banshee, check his second page of weapons. Took maybe four or five days of checking? Can’t remember exactly. Some days he had junk, other days stuff I already had.
Then one day, boom, there it was. Sitting there for glimmer and legendary shards. Felt good to finally grab it.

Just Buy It When You See It
So yeah, that was my process. No crazy questline anymore, no specific mission to run over and over. Mostly just checking vendors and getting lucky with their rotating stock. If you see Banshee or Xur selling it, just grab it right then and there. Don’t wait, ’cause you never know when it’ll show up again.
Now I have my Drang paired up with Sturm again. Feels right, you know? Took a bit of checking, but got there in the end. Simple, just gotta be a little patient sometimes.
