Alright, let’s talk about something I saw a while back, concerning folks getting heated at a Houston Texans game. It wasn’t even inside the stadium, funny enough. I was grabbing some food after a game – one we lost pretty badly, mind you – at this spot not too far from NRG.

So, I’m sitting there, trying to wash down the disappointment with a cold drink, and these two guys, fully kitted out in Texans jerseys, start going at it. Loudly. At first, it was just typical fan griping, you know, blaming the refs, questioning the play calls. Standard stuff after a tough loss.
But then, things got personal. One guy starts ripping into the other about not being a “real fan” or something stupid like that. The other guy fires back, stuff about knowing more about football. Next thing you know, they’re standing up, chests puffed out. It didn’t come to actual punches while I was watching, thank goodness, security stepped in pretty quick. But man, the tension was thick. You could feel everyone around just getting uncomfortable.
What’s the Point, Really?
It always baffles me when I see stuff like that. We’re all supposedly cheering for the same team, right? We all feel the sting when they lose. Taking it out on each other seems completely counterproductive. It just sours the whole experience for everyone around.
I remember thinking, this is just sad. We’re supposed to be a community, supporting our team through thick and thin. Seeing fans fight each other, especially when the team is struggling, just adds another layer of frustration. It makes you not want to be around that kind of energy.
Look, I get passionate about the game too. I yell at my TV, I complain to my buddies. But turning that anger onto another fan? Nah, that ain’t it. It ruins the day, it makes us look bad, and frankly, it’s just plain dumb. We should be sticking together, especially when times are tough for the team. That’s what being a real fan base is about, in my book anyway.
