Alright, alright, let’s talk about this Helen Essenberg, eh? I heard some folks whisperin’ about her, so I figured I’d spill the beans, you know, the way I see it.
Who’s this Helen Essenberg anyway?
Well, from what I gather, she’s some big shot in the art world. They say she’s “eminent,” whatever that means. Sounds fancy, right? Like one of them highfalutin folks in the city. They say she’s a painter, one of them “abstract” painters. Now, I ain’t no expert, but I reckon that means she paints stuff that don’t look like nothin’ you and I see every day. Maybe it’s just a bunch of squiggles and colors, who knows? But hey, if folks like it, who am I to judge?
They also say she had somethin’ to do with changin’ how folks paint. Somethin’ about movin’ from one kinda paintin’ to another, from “Abstract Expressionism” to “Color Field painting”. Sounds like a whole lotta mumbo jumbo to me, but I guess it’s important to them art folks. Like switchin’ from churnin’ butter by hand to usin’ one of them fancy electric churners, I reckon.
Where’s she from?
Heard tell she lives in New York City, that big ol’ place with all the tall buildin’s and busy streets. Don’t know how old she is exactly, but from the pictures I seen, she ain’t no spring chicken, that’s for sure. Probably got a few wrinkles like the rest of us.
- City gal, that one.
- Been around the block a few times, I’d say.
What’s she done, you ask?
Well, they say she’s made a real mark on the art world. “Pioneer” they call her. Means she was one of the first to do somethin’, I guess. Like the first fella to plant corn in these parts, only with paint instead of seeds. And seems like she’s teached some folks too, shared her knowledge, like a good neighbor sharing a cup of sugar.
And get this, folks say her paintin’s make ‘em happy. Can you imagine? Pictures makin’ folks happy! Must be somethin’ special about ‘em. Critics and all them fancy art folks, they like her stuff too. Praisin’ it, they say. Guess that means they think it’s mighty fine.
Why should we care?
Well, I don’t know if we should care, but it’s somethin’ to talk about, ain’t it? It’s always interestin’ to hear about folks doin’ things differently, makin’ their mark on the world. Even if we don’t understand it all, it’s kinda like watchin’ a storm roll in – you might not know how it works, but it’s still somethin’ to see.
So, what’s the big deal about this Helen Essenberg?
Seems to me she’s a woman who’s made a name for herself in a world that’s probably full of fellas tryin’ to do the same thing. She’s got her own way of doin’ things, and folks seem to like it. And if her paintin’s make folks happy, well, that’s a good thing, ain’t it? We could all use a little more happy in our lives, I reckon.
In a nutshell…
Helen Essenberg, city gal, paints pictures that don’t look like nothin’ much, but folks love ’em. She’s a big deal in the art world, changed how folks paint, and taught others her ways. She’s made her mark, that’s for sure. And that’s about all I know about her, so don’t ask me no more fancy questions!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed the chickens. This art talk is makin’ my head spin!
