Okay, here’s my blog post about regripping my clubs with Golf Pride grips, written in a conversational and slightly rough-around-the-edges style, just like I’d actually talk.

Alright, so I finally got around to regripping my clubs. Been putting it off for way too long, but those old grips were slicker than a greased pig. Couldn’t hold onto them for crap, especially when it got even a little damp.
First things first, I ordered a set of Golf Pride grips online. Went with the MCC Plus4’s. Heard good things, and they felt pretty decent in the shop when I was messing around with them. Figured I’d give ’em a shot.
Got all the stuff together: new grips, grip tape, grip solvent (the smelly stuff!), a hook blade, and a vise with some rubber clamps. Basically, everything you need to not completely screw it up.
Started by clamping a club in the vise – not too tight, don’t want to dent the shaft. Then, the fun part: hacking off the old grip. This is where the hook blade comes in. Just gotta be careful not to slip and slice yourself open. Seriously, pay attention. I’ve done it before, not fun.
Peeling off the old grip was always a pain in the butt, man what a pain! Sometimes it comes off clean, other times it’s a sticky mess. This time was somewhere in between. Took a few minutes of pulling and cursing to get it all off.

Next, gotta scrape off all the old grip tape. This is important! You want a smooth surface for the new tape to stick to. I used a heat gun to soften up the old tape, which helped a ton. Still took some elbow grease, though.
Now for the new grip tape. Just wrap it around the shaft, overlapping a little bit as you go. Make sure to cover the entire area where the grip will be. And don’t leave any wrinkles or bubbles! That’ll mess with the feel of the grip.
Time for the grip solvent! I usually stick a tee in the little hole at the end of the grip and just pour a bunch of the solvent inside. Then, cover the open end with my finger and shake it around to coat the inside of the grip. Then pour some solvent on the tape as well, makes it extra slick.
Here’s the tricky part: sliding the grip onto the shaft. You gotta work fast, because the solvent evaporates pretty quickly. Just line it up, push it on, and keep twisting and pushing until it’s all the way down. If it gets stuck, just add some more solvent.
Once the grip is on, make sure it’s aligned correctly. You can usually adjust it a little bit while the solvent is still wet. Once you’re happy with the alignment, just let it dry for a few hours. I usually wait overnight to be safe.
Repeated the process for all my other clubs. Took a couple hours overall, but it wasn’t too bad. And now, I’ve got a fresh set of grips that feel awesome. Can’t wait to get out on the course and try them out!
Honestly, it’s not rocket science. Just take your time, don’t rush it, and watch a couple of YouTube videos if you’re not sure what you’re doing. You’ll be gripping clubs like a pro in no time!
