Okay, so I saw this picture of Dawn Staley, the basketball coach, and she was wearing this killer sweater. I just had to have it, or at least something like it. I’m not even a huge basketball fan, but that sweater…it was calling to me.
First, I scoured the internet. I mean, I went deep. I was on all the usual sites, plus some I’d never even heard of before. I tried all kinds of search terms, “Dawn Staley sweater,” “South Carolina coach sweater,” “Gamecocks clothing,” you name it. I felt like a detective, honestly.
After what felt like forever, I found a few that were kinda similar, but nothing that really captured the vibe of the original. The colors were off, the pattern wasn’t quite right, or they were just plain ugly.
The Hunt Continues
- I started checking out some smaller boutiques online.
- I even looked at some custom-made sweater places.
- I even tried to find similar images using the search engine’s reverse image search.
I thought about maybe trying to knit one myself! I’ve knitted scarves before, but a whole sweater? That seemed…ambitious. But, I found some free online knitting using free patterns.I am still looking for more free patterns.
I spent more time and energy on the pattern design, I finally managed to find a basic sweater pattern that I could * is not exactly like Dawn’s sweater.
So, that’s where I’m * looking for something more similar! I will find it one day! I did it!
