Okay, so I found myself in a real pickle the other day, staring at my fantasy roster, needing to make a tough call. It basically boiled down to this: Garrett Wilson or Michael Pittman? Man, I went back and forth on this one for ages.

My Initial Thoughts
First off, Garrett Wilson. What a talent, right? You see the guy play, the way he moves, how he gets open. It’s obvious he’s got that special something. I drafted him thinking, even with the shaky QB situation the Jets always seem to have, his pure ability would shine through. He did pretty well even with backups throwing him the ball last year, so I figured, surely it can’t get worse?
Then there’s Michael Pittman over in Indy. He’s not maybe as flashy as Wilson, but the dude is reliable. You know he’s the main guy for the Colts. He gets a ton of targets, like, a ton. He’s the security blanket, the go-to receiver. And consistency is huge in fantasy, isn’t it? You want guys you can count on week in, week out.
The Dilemma Deepens
So, here was my thinking process, wrestling with this:
- Wilson’s Upside: If, and it’s a big IF, the Jets ever get decent quarterback play, Wilson could explode. Like, league-winner type potential. That ceiling is super tempting. But man, relying on the Jets’ QB situation feels like playing the lottery sometimes.
- Pittman’s Floor: Pittman feels safer. You kinda know what you’re getting. He’s probably going to get you a decent chunk of points most weeks because he just gets fed the ball. Even with a rookie QB last year, he was solid. The floor feels much higher.
- The Quarterbacks: This was the kicker for me. Aaron Rodgers should be back for Wilson, which sounds great on paper. But coming off that Achilles? At his age? There are question marks. For Pittman, Anthony Richardson is exciting, runs a lot, but is he going to consistently support a top receiver through the air? Or will his rushing and maybe some inconsistent passing limit Pittman’s ceiling?
Making the Call
I spent way too much time looking at snap counts, target shares from last year, and reading beat reports. I kept flipping my opinion. One minute I was all in on Wilson’s potential game-breaking ability. The next, I was leaning towards Pittman’s steady production.
What finally did it? Honestly, it was a gut feeling combined with a slight lean towards perceived safety. The constant uncertainty around the Jets, even with Rodgers potentially back, just spooked me a little more. It felt like a wider range of outcomes, including some really bad ones.

Pittman, while maybe not having that insane ceiling Wilson might possess, felt like a guy I wouldn’t regret having most weeks. He’s the clear number one on his team, and even with a developing QB, that volume is hard to ignore. It just felt like the slightly less risky path, and sometimes in fantasy, reducing risk is the way to go.
So, after all that headache, I decided to roll with Michael Pittman. It wasn’t easy, and I’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on Wilson, maybe kicking myself later if he goes nuclear. But for now, Pittman felt like the more dependable choice for my squad structure. We’ll see how it plays out! Gotta trust the process, right?
