Hey there, honey. Let me tell you about this Fred Couples, and what’s in his golf bag, you know, his WITB. That boy, he’s somethin’ else with them golf clubs. He sure can whack that little ball. I don’t rightly know all the fancy names of them clubs, but I’ll tell ya what I’ve seen and heard.
So, this Fred, he’s got this big ol’ club, they call it a driver, I reckon. He uses it to hit the ball real far, right off the start. Heard someone say it’s some kinda special driver, but heck, they all look the same to me. Just a big ol’ head on a stick. But he sure does make it sing! Sends that ball flying like a bird scared by a gunshot. That’s an important part of his WITB, I suppose.
Then he’s got these other clubs, a bit smaller, they call ’em woods. Woods! Can you believe it? Ain’t made of wood no more, though. Shiny metal things. He’s got a couple of those, maybe a 5 wood and a 7 wood I think someone said. Used for when the ball’s a little closer, but not too close. He’s good with them, too. Swings ’em easy like, like he’s shooing flies. This Fred Couples WITB thing, it’s all about gettin’ that ball where it needs to go.
- Driver – for long shots
- Woods – like a 5 wood and a 7 wood
- Irons – for closer shots
- Putter – for on the green
Now, he’s got a whole bunch of what they call irons. These Fred Couples irons are important, they say. Heard someone say he’s got old ones. Bridgestone, I think they said. Well, if they work, they work, right? Don’t need nothin’ fancy just to hit a ball around. These irons, they got numbers on ’em. Goes up to, I don’t know, seven or somethin’. He uses different ones depending on how far he needs to hit that little white ball. It’s all part of that WITB, they say. What’s in the bag.
He doesn’t carry the long irons, though. Nope, just this 7 iron someone said. I guess his back is kind of like mine. It hurts sometimes. He uses a lot of those wood clubs instead. And I think they are TaylorMade. It’s something he likes, I guess. Old people, they like what they like.
And then, when he gets that ball up close to the hole, on that real short grass they call the green, he’s got this other club. They call it a putter. Looks kinda funny, not like the other clubs. This one, he just kinda taps the ball with it. Gotta be gentle like, roll it right into the hole. I saw someone say he uses some kind of Bettinardi. Sounds Italian to me. He’s pretty good with that putter, I gotta say. Sinks ’em like nothin’.
So, that’s what I know about Fred Couples and his WITB. He’s got his driver, his woods, his irons, and his putter. All them different clubs for hittin’ that ball different ways. He plays that golf game, just hitting that little ball around. He’s a good one, that Fred. Makes it look easy, even though I know it ain’t. He’s been playing a long time, that’s for sure.
That golf, it’s a funny game. Lots of walkin’, lots of hittin’, lots of tryin’ to get that little ball in that little hole. This Fred Couples, he sure does love it. And people like to know what’s in his golf bag. His WITB. It’s like knowin’ his secrets or somethin’.
Heard some folks talkin’ ’bout some SAS Championship. Sounds important. Must be one of them big golf tournaments. Probably why folks is so interested in what clubs he’s usin’. Tryna figure out how he does it, I reckon. This WITB thing is a big deal to some folks, I guess.
I don’t know much about golf, really. Just what I see and hear. But I know this Fred Couples, he’s good. And he’s got all them clubs in his bag, his WITB, to help him be good. That’s all that matters, right? Hittin’ that ball where you want it to go.
He’s got his way of doin’ things, that’s for sure. Uses them clubs like he was born with ’em in his hand. It’s somethin’ to watch, I tell ya. This golf, it’s more than just hittin’ a ball. It’s a whole thing. And this Fred Couples, he’s a big part of it. And knowing about this Fred Couples WITB is important to some people. Not sure why, but it is.
So there you have it. Everything this old lady knows about Fred Couples and that golf bag of his. His WITB, they call it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got some chores to do. This ain’t gonna do itself. You young folks and your golf. It’s a mystery to me. But hey, whatever makes you happy, right?
