Okay, here is my story about trying out a flat putter grip:
So, I’ve been messing around with my putting lately, trying to get more consistent, you know? I heard about these flat putter grips and figured, why not give ’em a shot? I went down to the local golf shop and picked one up. It felt kinda weird at first, all flat and wide compared to my old round grip.
First thing I did was to install this new grip on my putter. It was easier than I thought, to be honest. Just slid the old one off and the new one on. Then, I took it out to the practice green.
- The first few putts felt really strange. I had to adjust my hand position.
- I noticed right away that my wrists weren’t moving as much. The flat sides of the grip seemed to lock them in place.
- I started hitting some longer putts, just to get a feel for it.
After a while, I started to get the hang of it. I focused on rocking my shoulders more, since my wrists were kinda locked down. My stroke felt more stable, more pendulum-like. I was making more putts, especially those tricky short ones.
My First Round
I decided to take it out for a real round. I was a little nervous, not gonna lie. But I stuck with it. I found that I was reading the greens better, probably because I wasn’t messing with my stroke so much.
I definitely made more putts than usual that day. I wouldn’t say it was a miracle cure, but it felt like an improvement. I will keep using this flat grip for now. Maybe it’s just the new toy effect, but hey, if it works, it works, right?
I encourage you to try it. Maybe it will help you, too.
