Alright guys, so today I wanna chat about something I’ve been messing with a lot lately: Tracer’s keybinds in Overwatch. I’ve been trying to optimize my setup, and let me tell you, it’s been a JOURNEY.

The Problem: Default is a No-Go
First off, the default Tracer keybinds? Absolutely not. Trying to Blink with Shift, Recall with E, and still have WASD for movement? My fingers were doing the tango, and not a good one. I needed something that felt more intuitive, more…natural.
Step 1: Blink, Blink, Baby
Blink is Tracer’s bread and butter. You need to be able to spam that ability like your life depends on it, because, well, it kinda does. So, my first change was moving Blink to my right mouse button. Hear me out! I figured I wasn’t using right click for anything else critical with Tracer, and having Blink right under my index finger felt AMAZING. I rebound the original right mouse button function elsewhere.
Step 2: Recall Gets a Promotion

Next up, Recall. This is your get-out-of-jail-free card. You need to be able to hit it QUICK. I tried a few things, but ultimately, I moved Recall to Shift. It felt like a good place for it – easily accessible with my pinky, and not conflicting with my movement. I had to find a new spot for the original shift function, though.
Step 3: Melee Shuffle
This is where things got a little tricky. I wanted a melee button that was easy to reach in those oh-crap-I’m-out-of-ammo moments. I ended up moving melee to one of my mouse side buttons. Having it on my thumb felt super responsive, and it’s saved my bacon more times than I can count.
Step 4: The Leftovers
So, what about the original Shift and Right Mouse Button functions? For Shift, I moved the original function to “C”. It’s not used often, but it’s there when I need it. For the original Right Mouse Button, I figured I would use that function rarely on tracer so I just put it somewhere random.

The Result: A Tracer God? (Almost)
After a couple of days of getting used to the new layout, I gotta say, it’s made a HUGE difference. My Blinks are more precise, my Recalls are faster, and I’m landing more melee kills. Am I a Tracer god now? Nah, still got a long way to go. But this keybind setup has definitely helped me level up my game.
Your Mileage May Vary
- Everyone’s different, so what works for me might not work for you.
- Experiment! That’s the key. Try different setups, see what feels most comfortable and natural for your hand.
- Don’t be afraid to break the mold. There’s no “right” way to do it.
Give it a shot, let me know what you think, and happy blinking!
