Okay, so it’s week 14 of the faab, and things are getting pretty intense. I started off this week by double-checking all my previous designs. You know, just making sure I hadn’t messed anything up royally in the past few weeks.

After that, I jumped into actually finalizing my design. This involved a lot of tweaking and adjusting small details. Spent a good few hours just staring at the screen, moving things around by a pixel or two, and then moving them back again. It’s kind of a tedious process, but gotta get it right!
Working On the Physical Build
Then came the fun part – actually building the thing! I fired up the laser cutter and started cutting out the pieces. Let me tell you, watching the laser do its thing is always satisfying. Like watching a little robot do your bidding.
Once I had all the pieces, I started assembling everything. This was a bit like putting together a really complicated puzzle. Some parts were pretty straightforward, but others had me scratching my head for a while. I think i spent like, three hours alone on one section, and I went back and forth with the instructions sheet.
- First, I connected the main frame pieces.
- Then, I added the smaller support structures.
- Finally, I carefully attached the delicate bits.
I had a slight mishap with the gluing, but thankfully it didn’t ruin * a little bit of cleanup and it was all good.
Testing and Refining
With the physical build done, I moved on to testing. This is where I found out if all my hard work actually paid off. I ran a bunch of tests, checking for any weaknesses or areas that needed improvement.

Thankfully, most things worked as expected! There were a couple of minor issues, but nothing major. I spent some time refining those areas, making sure everything was solid and reliable.
Overall, it was a busy week, but I’m happy with how things turned out. I can be pround that I built a real thing. It is a good feeling. Got to see my design go from an idea on a screen to a physical object. Next week, it’s on to the next challenge!
