Hey everyone, so today I wanted to mess around with something a bit different, and I got really into this idea of mapping out all the Major League Baseball stadiums. You know, there are 30 of these bad boys all over the U.S.!
I started by gathering some info. First I grabbed a list of all 30 MLB teams and their home stadiums. Just some simple Google searching, nothing too crazy. I got the team names, stadium names, and their locations, like city and state.
Then, I needed to find a way to visualize this stuff on a map. I remembered there are some cool online mapping tools out there. After playing around with a few, I settled on one that seemed pretty user-friendly and let me do what I wanted.
Next, I started plotting the stadiums. It was pretty manual work, to be honest. I went through each team one by one and entered their stadium’s location into the mapping tool. It took some time, but the map slowly started to fill up with markers. It’s kind of interesting to see how spread out they are, you know? From the East Coast to the West Coast, and even up north in Minnesota!
- New York Yankees – Yankee Stadium – New York, NY
- Los Angeles Dodgers – Dodger Stadium – Los Angeles, CA
- Chicago Cubs – Wrigley Field – Chicago, IL
- Boston Red Sox – Fenway Park – Boston, MA
- San Francisco Giants – Oracle Park – San Francisco, CA
- and 25 more …
After I had all the locations pinned, I decided to add some extra details. I added the team names to each marker so it’s easy to see who plays where. I even played around with different marker colors, just for fun. Made it a bit more colorful and easier to see the different teams.
The final result was pretty cool! I ended up with a map that shows all 30 MLB stadiums across the country. You can clearly see where each team plays, and it gives you a good sense of the geographical spread of the league.
It was a fun little project, and it definitely made me want to plan a baseball road trip sometime soon. I mean, who wouldn’t want to visit all these iconic stadiums? It is kind of a dream, right? If you’re a baseball fan, you should totally try this out. It’s a neat way to visualize the league and maybe even get inspired for your next trip!
Future Improvements
I am thinking, it could be cool to add even more info to the map, like maybe some stadium pictures or even some fun facts about each place. Maybe even links to buy tickets.
Anyway, that’s my little MLB stadium mapping adventure. Hope you guys found it interesting! Let me know if you have any other mapping ideas you want me to try out. Let’s have a chat in the comments!
