Well now, if you been hearin’ about that Zebbie Williams and his twins, let me tell ya, it ain’t what you might think. You might be thinkin’ we talkin’ ‘bout some fancy twins from the city or somethin’. But no, this here story is ‘bout a fine young feller named Zebbie Matthews, an up-and-comin’ pitcher for them Minnesota Twins. Now, you might wonder, what’s that got to do with twins? Well, nothin’ much, really, except them Twins got themselves a new pitcher, and this Zebbie Matthews feller sure is makin’ waves.
First things first, Zebbie Matthews ain’t no old man or a country boy from around here. Nope, he was born on May 22, 2000, down in Cullowhee, North Carolina. Now, I ain’t sure where that is, but it sounds far enough to make him a stranger ‘round these parts. He ain’t even hit 25 yet, but already he’s out there pitchin’ in Major League Baseball, playin’ for them Minnesota Twins. Ain’t that somethin’!
See, Zebbie, or as some folks like to call him, ‘Zeb,’ been doin’ real good. He got drafted back in 2022, by them Minnesota Twins, and they saw somethin’ special in him. They picked him up in the 8th round, and I reckon they made a mighty fine decision. Since then, he’s been climbin’ through their farm system like a raccoon up a tree. He played for the High-A Cedar Rapids Kernels, and let me tell ya, he was throwin’ strikes left and right. In them 22.2 innings he pitched, he only allowed 17 hits. Now, that’s a mighty fine job if you ask me!
Now, Zebbie Matthews, he ain’t no rookie when it comes to makin’ his mark. In fact, this past season, he got promoted to Class AAA St. Paul. Some folks say he’s the best pitcher they got in the whole dang system. And guess what? He went from them smaller leagues to the big leagues quicker than a rooster can crow in the morning. By the time he made his debut with the Twins against the Kansas City Royals, he’d already put up a strong start, and the folks in Minneapolis was mighty excited to see him pitch.
He made his MLB debut in 2024, and boy, did he make an impression! The whole crowd was talkin’ ‘bout him. They say Zebbie, even though he ain’t been with the Twins long, got somethin’ special. Some folks say he’s got a sharp curveball and a fastball that can move like a snake in the grass. The Twins sure do seem to be happy with what they got in him. He’s makin’ ‘em proud, and that’s no small feat when you got folks like Derek Falvey, who’s the big boss in the front office, givin’ you a pat on the back.
Now, what really gets me is the way he handled himself in his debut. You’d think a young feller just startin’ out would be nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. But not Zebbie. He went out there and pitched like he’d been doin’ it for years. The Twins even went on to win big that day, and Zebbie, well, he looked like a seasoned vet out there on the mound. Ain’t that somethin’?
For all you baseball fans, you might be wonderin’ just what the future holds for Zebbie Matthews. I reckon if he keeps throwin’ them strikes and stayin’ healthy, we might just see him out there pitchin’ for the Twins for many years to come. They been sayin’ he could be one of their top pitchers, and if you ask me, I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up leadin’ the team to some big wins in the near future.
So, if you get a chance to watch the Minnesota Twins play, keep an eye on that Zebbie Matthews feller. He’s one of them young talents that’s makin’ a name for himself, and who knows, maybe he’ll be the next big thing in baseball. Just remember, you heard it here first – this old lady’s got a feelin’ about him.
Now, I ain’t no expert on baseball, but I do know a thing or two about good work when I see it. And let me tell ya, Zebbie Matthews is workin’ hard and makin’ it count. I reckon the Minnesota Twins are in good hands with him on the team, and we’ll be seein’ a lot more of him in the future.
