Okay, so I wanted to figure out the whole “what to wear” thing for the US Open Golf. I’ve never been to a major golf tournament, and I didn’t want to stick out like a sore thumb.

I started by looking around online. What I found, basically, is that there’s no super strict dress code, they said something like “semi-casual”. So, not jeans and a ripped t-shirt, but also not a suit and tie, Got it.
My Thinking Process
- First: No official rules. Great, one less thing to stress about.
- Second: “Semi-casual.” Okay, that’s my starting point.
- Third: I want comfort, especially if I’m gonna be walking around all day in the sun.
So, I started digging through my closet. I pulled out a few options:
- A couple of polo shirts – seemed like a safe bet.
- Khaki shorts – classic, comfortable, and they breathe.
- Some golf pants, I thought maybe, if it’s cooler?
- A light, breathable short-sleeved shirt.
For shoes, I figured sneakers are a must. Gotta be able to walk comfortably. No sandals, because, well, it’s a golf course.
I also grabbed a baseball cap. Sun protection is important, and it adds to that casual, sporty look. Sunglasses, obviously, another must-have for a sunny day.
Finally I decided to wear my favorite polo shirt, the khaki shorts, and my most comfortable sneakers. Also I added the cap and sunglasses. I felt like I fit the “semi-casual” vibe without looking like I was trying too hard. Mission accomplished!
