Well, lookie here, you wanna know about this Sentry Classic basketball thingy in 2023, huh? Alright, alright, I’ll tell ya what I know. It’s a basketball show, you see, like them fellas runnin’ around and throwin’ a ball into a hoop. Happens every year, they say. This one’s the 52nd, so it’s been goin’ on for a good long while, longer than I can remember most things, that’s for sure.
Now, they had this thing in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. That’s up north, kinda cold this time of year, I reckon. They played in some place called Quandt Fieldhouse. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But it’s just a gym, a big ol’ room with hoops on both ends. Address is somethin’ like 4917 Main Street. If you get lost, just ask someone, they’ll point you the right way, city folks are usually helpful.
This Sentry Classic, it ain’t just one game, no sir. It’s a whole dang tournament. Lots of teams, boys and girls, all tryin’ to win. They got this shootout thing too, WBY Shootout they call it. Sounds like a lot of hoopin’ and hollerin’ to me. I heard tell Amherst played Almond-Bancroft, and then Pacelli went up against Westfield. Who won? Don’t ask me! I can barely keep track of my own chickens, let alone a bunch of kids runnin’ around with a ball.
- Boys Tournament: Lots of boys teams playin’.
- Girls Tournament: The girls get in on the action too.
- WBY Shootout: Some kinda special game, I guess.
They play this thing over a few days, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, I think. So, plenty of basketball to watch if you’re into that kinda thing. It’s a holiday tournament, so it happens around Christmas time. Kids are outta school, folks got time off, perfect for watchin’ some basketball, I suppose. Me? I’d rather be home by the fire with a warm cup of tea, but to each their own, right?
I hear tell it was on the TV too, some of it anyway. Channels like ACC Network and ESPN, whatever those are. Fancy names for the picture box, if you ask me. Back in my day, we didn’t have all that. If you wanted to see a game, you had to go there in person, rain or shine. These young folks got it easy, sittin’ on their couches, watchin’ everything on a screen. But hey, that’s progress, they say.
Now, this Community Parks Improvement Committee, CPIC they call ‘em, they had somethin’ to do with it too. Sounds like a bunch of busybodies to me, always organizin’ things. But I guess someone’s gotta do it, right? They make sure everything runs smooth, get the teams together, find a place to play, all that jazz. It’s a big job, I reckon, but they seem to handle it alright.
So, that’s the gist of it. The Sentry Classic basketball tournament in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Lots of games, lots of teams, lots of runnin’ and jumpin’. If you like basketball, you’d probably enjoy it. Me? I’ll stick to my chickens and my tea. But I can tell you, those kids, they put their hearts into it. They play hard, they run fast, and they try their best. And that’s somethin’ to be admired, ain’t it? It teaches them somethin’ about workin’ together and tryin’ hard, and that’s important, no matter what you do in life.
2023 Schedule? Well, that’s a bit trickier. They don’t tell old biddies like me everything, you know. But from what I gathered, it was mostly in December, around the holidays. Thursday through Saturday, like I said. If you wanna know for sure, you gotta look it up online or somethin’. These young folks and their computers, they know everything, it seems. Just search for “Sentry Classic 2023 schedule” and you’ll find it. Probably got the times, the teams, the whole shebang. But that’s all I know. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed them chickens.
