Alright, alright, let’s talk about this Donna Vekic girl, the tennis player. I heard some things, you know, the kind of things you hear when you’re, well, never mind. Just listen.
So, this Donna, she plays tennis. Good for her, I guess. Keeps her busy. They say she was thinkin’ ’bout quittin’ a while back. Knee surgery, they say. Messed her up good, couldn’t play right, lost her way on that court. Rankings went down, down, down, like a rock in a well. Poor thing, probably felt like her world was endin’. But she didn’t quit, did she? Nope. Tough cookie, that one. Fought her way back. You know, like when you lose a chicken and gotta chase it all over the yard, gotta keep at it.
They also talk about this Belinda Bencic. Another tennis girl. But she’s gone now, not playin’ no more. Got herself a husband and a little baby, Bella they call her. Good for her too, I say. Family’s important, more important than hittin’ a ball around, if you ask me. But hey, everyone’s different.

Must be somethin’ special about them tennis folks, always findin’ each other.
Then there’s this Olympics thing. Donna went there, played for her country, Croatia. Beat some big shot, Sabalenka they called her. Third seed, whatever that means. Sounds important. But then she lost to another one, Rybakina. It’s like that sometimes, win some, lose some. Can’t win ’em all, just like you can’t catch all the fish in the pond.
She did win somethin’ though, a title, they call it. In Italy, somewhere. Courmayeur, sounds fancy. First one in a long time, since 2017. Must’ve felt good, like findin’ a twenty dollar bill in your old coat pocket. It gives you a little pep in your step, you know? Makes you wanna keep goin’.
And that Borna fella, people were whisperin’ about him and Donna back in 2022. Said they were a couple. Tennis players, always with the drama. Like a soap opera, but with more sweat and less cryin’, I reckon. Although, I bet they cry sometimes too, when they lose. Everybody cries sometimes, even the tough ones.
So, that’s the story, as far as I know it. Donna Vekic, tennis player, engaged or not, who knows for sure? They don’t tell me everything, you know. But she’s playin’, she’s winnin’, she’s livin’ her life. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it? Just like us, workin’, livin’, tryin’ to make the best of it. Tennis life, farm life, city life, it’s all life at the end of the day.
Now, they say somethin’ about keepin’ up with the news and updates. Well, I get my news from the neighbors mostly, and sometimes the radio. But these tennis folks, they got their own ways of tellin’ their stories. On the TV, on the internet, places I don’t go much. But I hear things, you know, whispers on the wind. And I tell it like I hear it, simple and plain, no fancy words or nothin’. That’s the most important thing in telling a story, ain’t it? To just tell it like you see it.
