Alright, let’s talk about this Travis Kelce Texas Rangers thing. It popped into my head the other day, kinda outta nowhere. You know how sometimes you hear two names mashed together and you think, “Wait, what’s the connection there?” That was me with Kelce and the Rangers.
First off, I had to really think. Travis Kelce, yeah, the football guy. Big tight end for the Chiefs. Loud, kinda fun, wins Super Bowls. Texas Rangers, that’s baseball. Totally different sport, different city. So, what gives?
My next step was simple. I just started digging around a bit. Didn’t make a big deal out of it, just casual searching while I had some downtime. Pulled up my usual search engine. Typed in “Travis Kelce Texas Rangers”. You know, the obvious stuff.
Saw some pictures pretty quick. There he was, Kelce, standing on a baseball mound. Wearing a Rangers jersey, number 87, same as his football number. Looked like he was getting ready to throw a pitch. Okay, that clears up part of it. Lots of celebs throw out the first pitch. It’s a thing teams do.
So, what was the deal?
I clicked on a few links. Read some short articles, blog posts, stuff like that. Just wanted the basic story. Turns out, yeah, he threw the ceremonial first pitch at a Rangers game back in April 2023. They even gave him a custom jersey. It was a whole event.
- Found video clips of the pitch.
- Read quotes about him being excited to do it.
- Saw he was there with Patrick Mahomes sometimes too, another Chiefs guy.
Was there anything deeper? Like, did he almost sign with them? Is he secretly a baseball nut? Didn’t find much evidence of that. Seems mostly like a fun crossover event. Good publicity for the Rangers, fun day out for Kelce. He played multiple sports growing up, sure, like a lot of athletes, but the main connection here was just that one appearance throwing the ball.

So, that was my little project. Just tracing back a random thought. Started with confusion, did some basic searching, found the pictures and the story about the first pitch. Nothing earth-shattering, but it satisfied my curiosity. Sometimes you just gotta check these things out yourself. That’s the process, plain and simple.
