Okay, so, I’ve been seeing this question pop up all over the internet: “Did Austin McBroom play in the NBA?” I mean, the guy’s got some serious handles and a pretty decent shot, so it’s not a totally crazy question. I got curious myself, so I started to dig into it.
First, I went to check some of the big sports websites. You know, the usual ones. I started with a regular old Google search, typing in “Austin McBroom NBA”. I saw a bunch of articles and forum discussions, but nothing definitive. Most of the discussions were just fans debating it.
- Checked out some sports forums.
- Scrolled through his social media. I know, I know, not exactly the most reliable source, but I wanted to see if he ever talked about it himself. Lots of basketball content, but nothing specifically about playing in the NBA.
- Watched some of his basketball videos. The guy can definitely play, but it’s hard to tell just from highlights if he’s NBA-level.
Then I got a little bit crazy. I tried to find old NBA draft records and looked for his name. I was thinking maybe he was drafted but didn’t get any playing time. I went through drafts from like, 2011 to 2016, but no Austin McBroom. Nada. Zilch.
I was about to give up, but I came across some articles about his college basketball career. Turns out, he played for Eastern Washington University, Saint Louis University, and Central Michigan. He was pretty good in college, especially his senior year, where he was among the top 10 leading scorers in the country. I watched some college game highlights, and it was easy to see where the NBA rumors might have started. He was quick, had good ball control, and could shoot the three.
After that, I found a couple of interviews where he talked about his basketball career. He mentioned playing overseas for a bit, but no NBA. So, I figured that was it. Mystery solved.
So, after all that digging, here’s the conclusion I came to: Austin McBroom did NOT play in the NBA. He was a solid college player and even played professionally overseas, but he never made it to the NBA. It seems like a lot of people got confused because of his skills and maybe because he’s been in some celebrity basketball games, but yeah, no NBA for Austin.
It was a fun little research project, though. I definitely learned a lot more about Austin McBroom’s basketball journey than I expected to. And honestly, even though he didn’t make it to the NBA, his college career was pretty impressive. It just goes to show how tough it is to make it to the top level of professional sports.
