Alright, so I finally got around to grinding for that “Prolonged Engagement” submachine gun in Destiny 2. I’d heard it was a decent roll, and frankly, I needed a new energy SMG to play with. I didn’t have any plan, just going to hop in and go for it.
Getting Started: Picking the Playlist
First, I had to figure out where to even start. This thing drops from Vanguard Ops, so I just dove into the playlist. No specific strike, just straight into the random queue. I figured that was the quickest way, just brute force it.
The Grind Begins…
Man, let me tell you, it was a grind. I spent a solid couple of evenings just running strikes. One after another. Got paired with some pretty chill folks, some silent types, and even a few speedrunners who just zipped through everything. I did my best to keep up. Used my best weapons. Switched it up a lot. Warlock most of the time.
- First night: Probably ran like 10 strikes? Nothing. Just blues and the occasional legendary that I immediately dismantled. Got some enhancement cores I guess.
- Second night: More of the same. Started to question my life choices. Seriously considered just giving up and watching TV. But I pressed on.
- Third try : I tried another session the day after, I knew I had to keep going. And finally, I got something.
Finally, a Drop!
Then, boom! End of a strike, rewards screen pops up, and there it is – “Prolonged Engagement”. I nearly choked on my drink, no joke. I was so relieved to finally have it. It wasn’t even some crazy god roll, but I was just happy to have the base weapon.
The Roll I Got:
- It had something like, uh, “Subsistence” and “Frenzy,” I think? I can’t remember perfectly.
Wrapping Up
So yeah, that’s my “Prolonged Engagement” story. Nothing fancy, no secret strategies, just pure, unadulterated grinding. It took a while, felt like it anyway, but I got there in the end. It’s a good one. Now I just need to level it up and see what it can really do.
