So, I’ve been digging into Denny McCarthy’s game lately, and man, it’s been a ride. This guy’s been killing it on the PGA Tour, and I just had to figure out what he’s packing in that golf bag of his.
I started by checking out some pics of his gear. I saw he’s got a mix of Titleist and Srixon irons. Specifically, I spotted a Titleist T200 4-iron and a Srixon ZX U Mk II 4-iron in some shots. And in others, a TaylorMade P770 (5). Then, it looks like he rounds things out with Titleist T100 5 and 6 irons.
But here’s the kicker – I’m all about that putter. I mean, they say McCarthy’s one of the best putters out there. So, naturally, I went on a mission to find out what kind of putter he’s using. Sadly, details on his exact putter specs are like, nowhere to be found. Seriously, I dug through tons of articles and forums, and nothing. It’s like a big secret or something.
- Started with a deep dive into photos of McCarthy’s gear.
- Spotted a mix of Titleist and Srixon irons.
- Got super curious about his putter, ’cause, you know, he’s the putting king.
- Scoured the internet for putter specs, but came up empty.
I did learn a bit more about McCarthy himself, though. Turns out, he’s from Takoma Park, Maryland, and he’s been playing golf since he was 10. Dude even played college golf at the University of Virginia and won the Maryland Open three times as an amateur. Impressive, right?
Also, I found out that his caddie’s name is Derek Smith. Apparently, this guy played college golf too, but for Wichita State.
Oh, and get this – McCarthy’s game really stepped up in 2022-23. The stats show he improved in like, every area. I guess that’s why everyone’s talking about him.
What I learned
It was pretty fun to look into what Denny McCarthy’s using on the course.
I was bummed I couldn’t find the details on his putter. But hey, maybe it’s better that way. Keeps things mysterious, you know?
Anyway, hope you enjoyed this little journey into Denny McCarthy’s WITB.
Hit me up in the comments if you’ve got any insider info on that putter!
Later!
