Okay, so I wanted to dig into the stats from the Cincinnati Reds vs. Yankees game. It’s always fun to see how individual players did, beyond just the final score.

First, I needed to find a good source for the data. I mean, there are tons of sports sites out there, but some are easier to navigate than others. I ended up going to a popular site and it was pretty easy to find the specific game I was looking for.
Getting the data
Once I found the game, I started looking for the box score. That’s usually where they have all the detailed player stats. The website had a pretty clean layout. I easily found the “Box Score” option.
The box score had everything I needed, and it was separated by team, then batting and pitching. It was all really clear.
- For the Reds, I could see each batter’s performance: at-bats, hits, runs, RBIs, strikeouts, the whole nine yards.
- Same deal for the Yankees batters. I love this part.
- Then, it listed all the pitchers, with their stats: innings pitched, hits allowed, runs allowed, earned runs, walks, strikeouts, and even pitch count. All the good stuff.
Making sense of it
With all this data in front of me, I started digging in. I was curious to see who the top performers were. I manually checked players stats.
For example: I checked and found out from the batting stats who had the most hits, who drove in the most runs, and if anyone had a particularly rough day at the plate, striking out a lot. I do same things for the pitchers. It is easy to find out who had a strong outing and who struggled.

I love doing this because it gives you a much better understanding of the game. It’s more than just knowing who won or lost. you know!
