Okay, so today I decided to dive into the world of virtual golf and try to get a “Cardigan Classic Golf Tournament” going. Let me tell you, it was… an experience.

First, I had to, you know, actually figure out what I was doing. I mean, I’ve played golf games before, but setting up a whole tournament? That’s a different ball game (pun intended!). So I started with a simple search with the name, and didn’t find some related information.
I messed around with some free online golf games. It was a basic game, but hey, it was free! It had options to create a private room, so I figured that was my starting point.
Setting Up
- Pick a game: I am using the free game, after all.
- Create a Room:This game make it to create a “private room.” Easy enough.
- Invite Friends:I started texting some buddies. “Hey, wanna play some virtual golf? It’s for the prestigious… uh… Cardigan Classic!” Some were confused, some were intrigued. A few actually said yes.
- Set the Rules:I kept it simple. Stroke play, 18 holes. Winner gets bragging rights and, maybe I’d mail them an actual cardigan. Maybe.
The “Tournament”
We all logged in, and let me tell you, the trash talk started immediately. It was great. I even dug out an old cardigan to wear while I played, just to get into the spirit of things.
The actual golfing was… hilarious. We had some truly awful shots, some surprisingly good ones, and a whole lot of laughter. One friend managed to hit the ball straight into the water three times in a row. We were all crying with laughter.
I kept track of the scores on a piece of scrap paper. Very high-tech, I know.

The Aftermath
In the end, my buddy Mark won. I’m still debating whether to actually send him a cardigan. The whole thing was a bit of a mess, but a fun mess. It wasn’t exactly the “Cardigan Classic Golf Tournament” I had envisioned, but we had a blast.
I am sure I have to improve the game experience, next time. It’s a good game!
