Alright, let me tell you about my experience trying to play Stranded Deep with my buddies across different gaming platforms. It all started when I got really hooked on this survival game, Stranded Deep. You know, the one where you’re stuck in the Pacific after a plane crash? Developed by Beam Team Games, an Australian studio, it’s a pretty awesome and immersive world.
So, I got a few friends into it, too. The thing is, we all have different gaming setups. I’m on PC, one friend’s got an Xbox, another’s a PlayStation fan, and there’s even one with a Nintendo Switch. We thought, “Wouldn’t it be cool to play Stranded Deep together?” Seemed like a great idea at the time.
First thing we did was check if the game supports cross-platform play. I did some digging around, and guess what? Turns out, Stranded Deep doesn’t allow crossplay between different consoles or between consoles and PC. Bummer, right? I mean, the game’s available on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and even Nintendo Switch, but no playing together across these platforms.
We tried a bunch of things. I read somewhere that some games let you invite friends from other platforms through the game itself. Like, I heard in games such as Helldivers 2 and Call of Duty, you can invite friends to play between the PS5 and PC, so we were hopeful. But with Stranded Deep, no such luck. It was a letdown, to say the least.
We even went through the comments sections on some forums. One comment said something like, “Yeah, all consoles, including PC, phones, tablets, etc., are cross-play. All generations as long as it is supported. So yes, PS4 can play with Series X or Xbox One can play with PS5, no problem.” Got our hopes up, but it wasn’t the case for Stranded Deep.
It’s kinda frustrating, you know? I found out that PC and Xbox crossplay isn’t possible because the PC version has some differences from the console version. I think the biggest ones players would notice are the cartographer and some options available, which are different. Creating and joining game sessions is easy, but no crossplay.
So, in the end, we couldn’t play together across our different devices. It’s a real shame because playing with friends would have made the game even more fun. We ended up just playing separately and sharing our experiences. Not the same, but hey, at least we’re all enjoying the game in our own way.
If the developers ever decide to add cross-platform play to Stranded Deep, that would be amazing. Until then, we’re just a bunch of stranded gamers, playing solo on our own islands. Hopefully, one day, we’ll be able to team up and survive together, no matter what device we’re on.
