So, I wanted to figure out this whole “getting traded” thing in MLB The Show 24. I mean, who hasn’t dreamed of switching teams to find a better fit, right?
I fired up the game and dug into my Road to the Show career. In the older versions, like MLB The Show 22, you could just ping your agent and be like, “Hey, I’m not feeling it here, let’s look elsewhere.” But this time? Nada. The option’s gone. Seriously, SDS? What gives?
I spent hours playing, trying to see if there was some secret way to trigger a trade. I bumped up my stats, thinking maybe if I’m a superstar, they’d be more willing to let me go. Nope, still stuck. I even tried tanking my performance, playing like garbage to see if they’d want to get rid of me. Still nothing.
Then I remembered something about player contracts and the “10 & 5 rule” where a guy can veto a trade if he’s been in the league long enough and with one team for a while. I’m like, “Okay, maybe that’s it. I just gotta be patient.” But it’s frustrating, you know?
Here’s What I Learned:
- No Direct Request: You can’t just ask for a trade like in the old days.
- Performance Matters (Maybe): I thought playing really well or really badly might help, but it didn’t seem to do anything.
- Contracts and Rules: There are real-life rules about trades, like the 10 & 5 rule, that might be affecting things in the game.
Honestly, it’s a bummer. I really wanted that control over my player’s career. I guess for now, I’ll just have to keep grinding and see what happens. Maybe there’s some hidden mechanic I haven’t found yet. Or maybe, just maybe, SDS will bring back the trade request option in a future update. A guy can dream, right?
It’s like they want you to just stick it out with one team, which is cool if that’s your thing, but some of us like a change of scenery. Anyway, that’s my experience so far. If anyone out there has cracked the code on this, let me know!
