This Camilo Villegas, he’s one of them golf players, you know. Born way back in 1982, I heard. Plays that golf game, hitting a little ball with a stick. He’s from Colombia, that’s what they say.
He plays on that PGA Tour, some big-time golf thing. He got his card for that back in 2004. That’s a long time ago! He must be pretty good to keep playing all these years. He won that Butterfield Bermuda Championship thing not too long ago. My grandson told me about it. Sounds fancy, huh?
Hard Times, That’s For Sure
But life ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. This Camilo, he and his wife, Maria, they lost their little girl, Mia. Only 22 months old, that baby was. Got sick with that terrible cancer, brain and spine. Imagine that, a little baby like that. Breaks your heart, don’t it?
They went through a lot, that family. That little girl, Mia, she was a fighter, but it got her in the end. Months of treatments, and all that, for a little baby. Makes you wanna cry, just thinking about it.
Doing Good After Bad
But you know, some folks, they find a way to do good, even after bad things happen. This Camilo and Maria, they had some foundation thing already, and they changed it to “Mia’s Miracles.” After their baby, you see. They’re trying to help other folks, I guess. That’s a good thing, helping others.

That Camilo, he kept playing that golf, even after all that. He never gave up, they say. For nine whole years, he kept at it. Must be tough, losing your little girl and still having to go out there and play. But he did it.
He Won, That Camilo
And then, he won that Bermuda Championship. After he finished, he looked up at the sky. Must have been thinking of his little girl, Mia. That’s what I think, anyway. It’s sad, but it’s also kind of beautiful, you know?
He’s 41 years old now, that Camilo. Still playing golf. He wears those tight clothes, all one color. Used to wear bright stuff, I guess, but now it’s all plain. Says it’s his time for solid colors. I don’t know much about fashion, but it sounds alright to me.
That golf game, it seems hard. Hitting that little ball, walking around all day. But this Camilo, he’s good at it. Won that big championship and everything. He’s a strong one, that’s for sure. Lost his baby, but he kept going.
Remembering That Little Girl
It’s a sad story, losing that little girl, Mia. But this Camilo and Maria, they’re doing something good with their Mia’s Miracles. Trying to help others, that’s what it’s all about, ain’t it? Helping folks when they need it.
Life throws you curveballs, that’s for sure. You just gotta keep swinging, like that Camilo with his golf club. He’s a good one, that Camilo. A good golfer, and a good man, I think. Even though I don’t know him personally, that’s what it seems like to me.
That Camilo Villegas name, I’ll remember it. Not just for the golf, but for the little girl, Mia, and for the good they’re trying to do. That’s what matters, in the end, don’t it? Doing good, even when things are hard.
