Okay, so, I was messing around with my PS4 controller the other day, and I ran into this weird thing with the triangle button. It just stopped working all of a sudden. I mean, I was playing, and then boom, nothing. All the other buttons were fine, just the triangle one was giving me grief. It wasn’t stuck or anything, just not responding.
First, I tried to see if there is a firmware update, then I thought maybe I should just reset the controller. I found this tiny hole on the back, near the L2 button. I grabbed a paperclip and pushed the little button inside it, held it down for, like, 5 seconds or so. Then I plugged the controller into the PS4 with a USB cable and hit the PS button. I was hoping that would do the trick, but no dice. The triangle button was still dead.
- Check the firmware update
- Reset the controller
Then I went online to see if it is a common issue, some guys say it may be the rubber inside the button broken. It got me thinking, maybe it’s a hardware issue. I’m not exactly a tech whiz, so taking it apart myself seemed a little daunting. But I found some videos online about cleaning the contacts inside the controller, so I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” It couldn’t hurt, right?
But, I couldn’t even unscrew it open, I don’t have the right tools or anything, so I gave up. At least the other buttons are working.
So after all of that, the triangle button is still not working. I guess I’ll just have to live with it for now. Maybe I’ll ask my friends if they know how to fix it. Or I can contact a professional for help. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s definitely annoying when you’re trying to play and one of the main buttons just quits on you.
Anyways, that’s my little adventure with the PS4 controller. If anyone else has had this issue or knows a fix, let me know! I’m all ears.
