Man, today was a doozy. I decided to tackle the “bordeaux red crossword nyt” and let me tell you, it was a wild ride.
I started by grabbing my phone and opening up the NYT crossword app. I saw the title, “Bordeaux Red,” and I thought, “Okay, this might be about wine, might be about colors, let’s see.” I tapped on the puzzle and dived in.
The first few clues were easy enough. I filled in some short words, getting a few letters here and there.
- “Opposite of stop” – obviously, that’s “GO”.
- “Small songbird” – that could be “WREN”.
But then things started to get tricky. There were some longer clues that I just couldn’t figure out right away. I skipped around, trying to find easier clues to fill in more of the grid.
I kept hitting dead ends. I’d fill in a word, then realize it didn’t quite work with another clue. So, I had to erase some answers and try again. It was a bit frustrating, to be honest.
Then came the theme clues. They were all related to Bordeaux wines, which, I gotta admit, I don’t know much about.
- “Wine from Saint-Émilion?”- I was clueless.
- “Médoc, e.g.?” – No idea.
I was stumped. I tried guessing a few answers, based on the letters I already had, but nothing seemed to fit. It was like trying to put together a puzzle with missing pieces. I felt stuck for a good while, just staring at the grid, hoping for a breakthrough.
Finally, I decided to use the “reveal” option on a couple of the theme clues. I know, I know, some people think that’s cheating, but I was getting desperate! Once I saw those answers, everything started to click.
The words I revealed gave me the letters I needed to figure out the rest of the puzzle. Slowly but surely, I filled in the remaining blanks. It took a lot of thinking, some trial and error, and a little bit of help, but I finally did it!
The Finish
I finished the crossword! It took me longer than usual, but I got there in the end. That feeling of completing a tough puzzle is always so satisfying. I leaned back, feeling pretty good. Even though I had to peek a bit, I still conquered that “Bordeaux Red” puzzle. Onto the next one, I guess!
