Okay, so I was looking into the Ball State football team, right? And I thought, “Why not make a depth chart?” I mean, I’m no expert, but it seemed like a fun little project. So, I started by just Googling “Ball State football depth chart.”
First thing I did was check out some sports websites. They had some info, but nothing too detailed. Then I hit up the official Ball State Cardinals site. They have a roster, but it’s not exactly a depth chart. More like a list of players by position. A depth chart is the list of players at their particular positions on an NFL team. The players are listed with starters at the top and backups to follow.
Building the Depth Chart
- Quarterbacks: I saw a few names pop up, but it was hard to tell who the starter was. Had to dig a little deeper for that.
- Running Backs: This one was a bit clearer. Found a couple of guys who seemed to be the main players.
- Wide Receivers: Man, they got a bunch of these guys. Tried to sort them into the different WR positions, like WR-X, WR-Z, you know?
- Tight Ends: Not too many of these guys, so that was easier to figure out.
- Offensive Line: This was tough. Lots of names, and it wasn’t clear who played where. Left Tackle, Left Guard… yeah, it got messy.
- Defensive Line: Same story here. Tried my best to sort them out, but it was a guessing game.
- Linebackers: Okay, this one wasn’t as bad. Found some names that seemed to be the main guys.
- Defensive Backs: Cornerbacks, Safeties… again, lots of players, hard to tell who’s the starter.
So, after all that, I put together a sort of depth chart. It’s definitely not perfect, and I’m sure some real football analysts would laugh at it. But hey, I gave it a shot. It was a fun way to learn more about the team, and it made me appreciate how much work goes into figuring out these depth charts. It’s not as easy as it looks!
I even tried to find some info about transfers and which players were injured. That’s a whole other level of research! And I think I saw something about player stacks, which I guess is a fantasy football thing? Anyway, it was a cool little project, and I might try to update it as the season goes on. Who knows, maybe I’ll even become a Ball State football expert by the end of it!
I guess the big takeaway is that making a depth chart is harder than it seems. You really gotta dig for the info and make some educated guesses. But if you’re a football fan, it’s a pretty fun way to kill some time. I listed a visual representation of an order book, which is the outstanding buy or sell orders of an asset at varying price levels. It seems that it’s related to the depth chart. But I need to search for more information.
