Okay, so, I’ve been digging into this golfer, Ayaka Furue. She’s a pro from Japan, pretty tiny, only about five feet tall, but don’t let that fool you. This lady can play! I was checking out her gear, her “what’s in the bag,” or WITB as they call it. You know, I’m a bit of a golf nut myself, always curious about what the pros are using.
So, I started poking around, found some stuff about her latest setup. Looks like she’s rocking a Bridgestone B3 SD Driver. I’ve heard good things about Bridgestone, but I haven’t tried one myself. I did see that she’s got their irons too. I played with those before, and they felt pretty good. I think she has a good eye for equipment!
Then I stumbled upon some videos. There were highlights from the 2024 ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open, dated August 15th. I watched some of it, and man, she’s got a smooth swing. That is where I found her driver. I’m thinking I should have found a tournament where she won, and I was kinda surprised to see that Bobby MacIntyre won one in Scotland. I don’t think he was playing in the same tournament, but I was more focused on finding Ayaka’s win.
Anyway, while I was down this rabbit hole, I also saw something about Odyssey Putters. They’re apparently pretty popular, making up like 32.5 percent of the putters on the major tours. I’ve always been more of a Scotty Cameron guy myself, but hey, to each their own, right? I don’t know if Ayaka uses one, but I need to find out. Maybe I’ll try one out next time I’m at the golf shop. Who knows, might find my new favorite putter.
This whole thing started because I was just curious about Ayaka Furue, and now I’ve gone and learned a bunch of stuff about golf gear. That’s usually how it goes with me. One minute I’m looking up a golfer, the next I’m comparing driver specs and putter grips. Oh well, it’s all fun, right?
Update
- I need to find videos of a tournament that Ayaka Furue won.
- I want to find out if she uses an Odyssey putter.
