So, I’ve been digging through my old stuff, and guess what I found? A dusty box full of Pokemon cards from when I was a kid. It got me thinking, could these things actually be worth something? I mean, I know some Pokemon cards can fetch a pretty penny, so I decided to find out if I was sitting on a gold mine or not.
First things first, I had to figure out how to even start evaluating these cards. I went online and searched for “Pokemon card value”. I found this website that lets you look up cards and see their prices, and also track your collection. It seemed pretty neat, so I decided to give it a try.
I started going through my cards one by one. The website had a list of different Pokemon sets, so I tried to match my cards to the ones listed. I found some from the “Pokemon 2000 Topps Movie” set and the “Pokemon 1999 Topps Movie” set. It was kind of exciting to see the names of the Pokemon I used to collect.
The website showed prices for both graded and ungraded cards. Apparently, “graded” means the cards have been officially assessed for their condition, which can make them worth more. I didn’t have any graded cards, but it was still cool to see the potential value.
Some of My Findings
- Bellossom first appearance: I saw that some of these cards were listed for over $100! That got me really hyped.
- Other cards: A lot of the cards had prices listed, but they varied a lot. Some were just a few bucks, while others were a bit more.
I also found out that there’s this super rare card called the “Pikachu Illustrator”. It’s apparently the most expensive Pokemon card ever sold. Some guy named Logan Paul bought one for over a million dollars! That’s just insane. I definitely didn’t have that card, unfortunately.
Another thing I learned is that Charizard cards are also really popular. One Charizard card recently sold for over $300,000. It was originally listed for only $9.99 but ended up selling for that much after a bidding war.
After spending a few hours checking prices, I realized that my collection was probably not worth thousands, but it might still be worth a little something. I’m thinking of selling some of the better ones to see what I can get. It’s pretty cool to think that these old cards can still bring in some cash.
Overall, it was a fun trip down memory lane and a bit of a treasure hunt. I might not be a millionaire now, but at least I got to relive some childhood memories and maybe make a few bucks in the process.
