Okay, so I was just thinking about stuff the other day, you know, how people kinda change paths in life. Like, Trish Stratus came up somewhere, remember her from wrestling?

It got me thinking, not about the wrestling itself, but how someone known for one thing totally shifts gears. She went from that whole WWE scene to doing other things, like movies, yoga stuff, became a mom. It’s kinda wild how public figures have these different chapters.
My Own Weird Path
Reminds me a bit of my own weird career twists, honestly. Not quite the same scale, obviously, but still.
I started out thinking I’d be in graphic design forever. Spent ages learning the software, building a portfolio, the whole deal. Landed a job at a small agency, thought I was set. Man, was I wrong.
The place was a mess. Constant changes in direction, clients pulling out, bosses who didn’t have a clue. It was like:
- Monday: We’re focusing on print!
- Wednesday: Forget print, it’s all about web now!
- Friday: Actually, social media is the future!
Drove me nuts. Felt like I was just treading water, not really getting anywhere good. The pay was crap too, barely enough to cover rent and bills back then.

Then one day, totally out of the blue, my uncle calls me up. He runs this small landscaping business, nothing fancy. His main guy, the one who handled all the scheduling and talking to customers, just quit. He was desperate.
He asks me, “Hey, you’re good with computers and talking, right? Wanna help me out for a bit?”
I figured, why not? Couldn’t be worse than the agency chaos. So I jumped. Left the design world behind, just like that. Started managing schedules, sending invoices, dealing with grumpy homeowners complaining about dandelions. Totally different universe.
And the funny thing? I actually kinda liked it. It was real, you know? Not just pushing pixels around. Talking to people, solving actual problems, being outdoors sometimes. It wasn’t glamorous, but it felt… solid.
Stayed with him for like five years. Learned a ton about running a small business, stuff I never would’ve learned in design school. Eventually moved on from that too, into project management which is where I am now, kinda blending the organized computer stuff with the people stuff.

So yeah, thinking about someone like Trish Stratus, it just makes me chuckle about the weird, unexpected roads life takes you down. You start in one place, famous or not, and end up somewhere completely different. It’s messy, but kinda cool.
