This here is about that big fight, you know, Alistair Overeem vs Brock Lesnar. That UFC 141 thing back in, uh, 2011. Boy, that was a sight, I tell ya! Two big fellas going at it.
That Brock, he was a big strong fella, used to be a champion, I hear. But he had some trouble, you see. Some folks say he had trouble with his belly. Diver-ticul-itis? Some fancy name like that. After he lose a couple times, he just up and quit that MMA stuff in 2011. He come back one time, in 2016, and beat a fella name Mark Hunt. But, they said he took some bad stuff, some medicine he weren’t supposed to. So they said his win don’t count.
Now, this Overeem, he was a real tough one. Won all sorts of things, I reckon. Some Strikeforce thing, and DREAM, whatever that is. Big and strong, that one. UFC, they let him go in 2021, I think it was. He went back to that kickboxing, with GLORY, I think they call it. He fought just last October against some Badr Hari fella. They say Overeem won that one, too.
So, back to that UFC 141 fight. Brock, he wanted to prove somethin’, you know? He lost his big title to some Cain Velasquez, and he wanted to show he could beat this Overeem, who was a real good kicker. I mean this Overeem, he know how to use them legs! He real strong, that one.
- Brock, he tried to take Overeem down, you know, wrestle him to the ground.
- But Overeem, he too strong.
- He just push Brock away, real easy like.
Overeem, he just stood there, strong as an oak tree, I reckon. Brock, he tried, but he just couldn’t get him down. Overeem was just too solid. That leg strength of Overeem, you see, that’s what done it. He just plant his feet and don’t budge. That Alistair Overeem vs Brock Lesnar fight, it was somethin’ else, I tell ya. Not somethin’ you see everyday, them big guys goin’ at it like that.
Then Overeem, he start hittin’ Brock. With his hands, you see. Brock, he weren’t ready for that, I guess. That UFC 141, it was a big deal, I hear. They called it a “heavyweight title eliminator.” Big words for a big fight, I suppose.
They said it was gonna be five rounds, but it didn’t even last one. Overeem, he just too much for Brock. This one time, Overeem, he kicked Brock right in the belly. One big kick, that’s all it took. Brock, he just folded right over, like a cheap chair. That was it, the fight was over. Just like that.
The referee, he stopped it at 2 minutes and 26 seconds of the first round. Overeem, he just beat Brock, plain and simple. They call it a TKO, I think. Means the referee stopped it cause Brock couldn’t fight no more. That Overeem, he lived up to all the talk, that’s for sure. He just wrecked that Brock fella.
After that, Brock, he said he was done with that fightin’ stuff. He just quit, right then and there. Said he was retired. That Alistair Overeem vs Brock Lesnar fight at UFC 141 was the last time we saw Brock in that octagon thing. It was a big deal, that fight. Everyone was talkin’ about it. They were all sayin’ how Overeem was gonna be tough, and he sure was. That’s one fight I won’t forget, no sir. Overeem, he was somethin’ else that night. This is all I can tell. They are big guys, and they fight hard.
They are real strong. That is all I know. It’s not like they are from ’round here. They come from somewhere else. I don’t know. Those big citys, I think. But, yeah, that fight was somethin’.
Those UFC fights, they got all those rules, you know. It’s not like a bar fight. I think there are those rules that make them all right, I guess. Not that I know much about them. But, yeah, that’s all I got to say about that Alistair Overeem vs Brock Lesnar fight.
