Okay, so I wanted to really dig into the Zverev versus Alcaraz rivalry. I’ve been hearing a lot about it, and I wanted to see the numbers for myself.

First, I needed to find a reliable place to get the match history. You know, somewhere that keeps good track of this stuff. I tried a few different sports sites, bounced around a bit until I found one that looked pretty organized and up-to-date. It had all the matches listed out clearly, which was a good start.
Getting the Data
Once I found a decent site, it was time to, well, actually get the information. I could have just read it off the screen, but I wanted to play around with the numbers a little, so I decided to copy and paste all their matches into a spreadsheet. It was a bit tedious, I won’t lie. Lots of clicking, copying, and pasting. Match by match, I built up my little dataset.
- Date of the Match: Gotta know when they played.
- Tournament: Which tournament was it? That can sometimes matter.
- Round: Was it an early round, or a big final?
- Winner: Obviously, who won the match!
- Score: I grabbed the full score, just to have all the details.
I put all this into my trusty spreadsheet, row by row. It took a while, but slowly, I built my collection of data.
Analyzing the Matches
With all the data nicely organized, I started to actually look at it. I wanted to see the overall win-loss record, of course. Who’s on top? I also wanted to check if there were any patterns. Do they tend to win more on certain surfaces? Does one player dominate in finals, while the other wins more in earlier rounds? Basic stuff, you know?
I did some simple calculations, counting up the wins for each player. I grouped the matches by tournament type to see if anything jumped out. It was pretty interesting to see it all laid out in front of me, instead of just hearing about it from commentators or reading quick articles.

It’s a ongoing thing. I’m planning to keep updating the spreadsheet as they play more matches. It’s kind of fun to track it myself and see how the rivalry develops over time.!
