Okay, so, let me tell you about what happened today. The title of my sharing is “bellinger signed”.
I woke up this morning and saw this news going crazy on social media – Cody Bellinger got traded from the Chicago Cubs to the New York Yankees! I couldn’t believe it. First I saw the post by Cubs fan @Da_Carnivore, he was really sad about it. Then I read this breaking news from ESPN, saying Bellinger is going to the Yankees. He’s 29, so it’s kind of a big deal.
I started digging around to see what people were saying. Some of the Cubs fans were super bummed, talking about the team’s owners and yachts. Then I saw a bunch of Yankees fans being all excited, saying things like “Holy fleece,” like they think the Yankees totally ripped off the Cubs in this trade.
This whole thing reminded me of the situation with Blake Snell, Jordan Montgomery, and Matt Chapman – they’re all free agents, and they have the same agent as Bellinger.
- I went on different platforms to see more reactions.
- One Yankees fan said it’s time to stop with the Soto drama and improve the team.
- Another person, Hector, said I ruined his day with the news. I guess he’s a big Cubs fan.
Later, I saw that Bellinger posted a message to Cubs fans on Instagram. I didn’t read the whole thing, but it seemed pretty heartfelt, you know?
Then I found out that this whole free agency thing with Bellinger is finally over. Jeff Passan, who’s an MLB insider, reported that Bellinger actually re-signed with the Cubs. I know, I know, it’s confusing. He joined them in 2023, and now he’s back with them.
I also read somewhere that the Yankees were trying to get Bellinger in a trade. They were going to send this pitcher, Cody Poteet, and some money to the Cubs. It sounds like the Yankees really wanted Bellinger to replace Juan Soto in their lineup. He can play different positions, so he is a really good player for them.
Oh, and I also saw something about the Reds getting a new catcher. But that’s a whole other story.
Sum up
It has been a wild day with all this baseball news. I just wanted to share what I found out and how I went through it all. From social media posts to news reports, it was a lot to take in. What a day!
