Well, let me tell ya ’bout this here thing, this… Aerobie Arrow, or somethin’ like that. My grandson, he got one, brought it over last Sunday. Said it was a fancy frisbee. Frisbee? Back in my day, we just threw plates!
Anyways, this here Aerobie thing, it ain’t like no plate, that’s for sure. First time I threw it, it went straight into the dirt! Yep, nose-dived like a chicken with its head chopped off. My grandson, he laughed fit to bust a gut. Said I gotta throw it flat, like a pancake, not like I’m throwin’ rocks at them pesky crows in the cornfield.
So, I tried again. Held it flat, like he said, and swung my arm like I was slingin’ hay. And wouldn’t you know it, that thing took off! Went further than any plate I ever threw, further than that old rooster flies when the dog chases him! It just kept goin’ and goin’, almost clear across the pasture. I was surprised, I tell ya, surprised as a hen findin’ a snake in her nest.
- It flies real far, that’s for sure. Further than them regular frisbees, them plastic ones the kids play with.
- But it’s tricky, gotta get the hang of it. Gotta throw it just right, or it’ll go all wonky.
- It’s kinda fun though, once you figure it out. Makes you feel young again, like you could run around the fields all day. Not that I could, mind you, my knees ain’t what they used to be.
Now, my grandson, he uses it for somethin’ called “disk golf.” Sounds fancy, don’t it? He goes to this park with all these baskets, and he throws the Aerobie at ’em. Says it’s like golf, but with flyin’ disks instead of them little white balls. I watched him once, seems like a lot of walkin’ to me. And them baskets, they ain’t easy to hit. He misses more than he hits, that boy. But he has fun, and I guess that’s what matters.
He says there are different sizes too. He’s got this little one, says it’s good for short throws, and that big one for long throws. He even got one of those glow-in-the-dark ones. Says it’s for when they play at night. Imagine that, playing with flyin’ disks in the dark! Kids these days, they come up with the craziest things.
But I gotta say, this Aerobie thing, it ain’t half bad. Gets you out in the fresh air, gets you movin’. And it’s kinda satisfyin’ when you throw it just right and it goes soarin’ through the air. Makes you feel like you can do anythin’, even if it’s just for a few seconds.
Now, I ain’t no expert on flyin’ disks, or “aerobies” as they call ’em. But I know what I like. And I like this here Aerobie Arrow. It’s fun, it’s challengin’, and it reminds me of simpler times, when all you needed was a plate and a sunny day to have a good time.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do outside, somethin’ different, somethin’ that’ll make you laugh and maybe even get you a little exercise, you might want to give this Aerobie Arrow a try. Just remember to throw it flat, like a pancake. And don’t be surprised if it goes further than you expect. It’s a powerful little thing, that Aerobie.
And if you see a bunch of folks throwin’ these things at baskets in the park, don’t go thinkin’ they’re crazy. They’re just playin’ disk golf. And who knows, maybe you’ll even join ’em. It ain’t for me, all that walkin’, but to each their own, I always say.
Anyways, that’s all I gotta say about this Aerobie Arrow. It’s a good toy, a good game, and a good way to spend a sunny afternoon. Now if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go chase that rooster out of my garden again. Pesky thing.
One last thing though, my grandson said to remind folks to be careful when they throw it. Make sure there’s no people around and don’t throw it where people can’t see. Last thing anyone needs is a bump on the head. He also told me these things are pretty good priced and they last a long time if you don’t lose them in a tree somewhere. You get what you pay for, I guess. And this here Aerobie, it seems like it’s worth the price, if you ask me.
