Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with some college football data lately, specifically looking at the ACC and SEC conferences. I wanted to see how they stack up against each other this year, you know, just for fun. Nothing too serious, but I figured I’d share what I found.
First off, I started digging through some websites, you know, just Googling around to see what info was out there. I found some stuff about past records, like how the SEC teams are way ahead of the ACC teams in overall wins, 127 to 91, something like that. Georgia, LSU, and Alabama, those guys are always killing it, so no surprise there.
Then, I wanted to focus on this year, 2024. I found a couple of lists of inter-conference games, which was a good start. Also, I noticed that, apparently, last year, 2023, the ACC actually had a winning record against the SEC, 6-4. And Florida was 2-0, which was kinda cool.
I spent the rest of the day trying to piece together the 2024 results. I went through each team’s schedule, one by one. It was a bit of a pain, but I was determined. I opened up a bunch of tabs, made a simple spreadsheet, you know, just trying to keep track of everything.
So I started clicking through, game by game, trying to find all the ACC vs. SEC matchups. It was slow going, but I eventually got a decent list together. After collecting all data, I was happy that I had a pretty clear picture of how the season was going.
Here is the record I collected:
- Georgia (SEC) defeated Clemson (ACC)
- Florida State (ACC) defeated Florida (SEC)
- Kentucky (SEC) defeated Louisville (ACC)
- NC State (ACC) defeated Vanderbilt (SEC)
- North Carolina (ACC) defeated South Carolina (SEC)
- Tennessee (SEC) defeated Virginia (ACC)
So, yeah, that’s what I’ve been up to. It’s not groundbreaking stuff, but I thought it was interesting to see how things were shaping up this year. It looks like the 2024 ACC vs SEC record is 3-3.
Anyway, just thought I’d share my little project. Maybe someone else out there finds this kind of stuff as interesting as I do. Or maybe not, haha.
