Okay, so I wanted to talk about this whole Derek Jeter and politics thing. I started digging into it a while back, just out of curiosity, you know? This guy, Derek Jeter, he was a big deal with the New York Yankees, a real baseball legend. But when it comes to politics, the dude’s like a vault. You don’t hear him talking about this stuff, like, ever.
I started looking around to see if he’d ever said anything, anything at all, about his political leanings. And guess what? It’s all pretty much crickets. I did find some stuff, though, nothing solid, but it was something. For example, I read somewhere that he and Joe Torre, another big name in baseball, both have some kind of connection to Donald Trump. I mean, that got me thinking, right? What’s the deal there? But when it comes to Jeter saying something, anything, about the election, he’s quoted saying, “You move on and you hope that everyone can…” And that’s it. It’s like he starts to say something then just shuts it down.
My Search on the Internet
So, I kept at it, thinking there’s gotta be more. I mean, the guy’s a public figure. Surely, he’s let something slip at some point. I found a few articles that basically said the same thing. Jeter isn’t one to give political opinions. Or opinions on anything, even a little controversial. It’s like his public persona is this perfectly polished, non-controversial, all-American baseball hero. And that’s fine, I guess, but it’s also kinda strange, right?
Then, the plot thickened a bit. I stumbled upon something about his charitable foundation. Apparently, the foundation’s spokesperson made it clear that “Derek does not endorse any political candidates.” Okay, fair enough. It makes sense. You don’t want to alienate half your fans by taking a political stance. But still, it’s interesting how careful he is about this stuff.
- First, I went down a rabbit hole about Jeter being elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
- Then, I found that he was named on 99.7% of the ballots. Impressive, no doubt, but still nothing juicy about his political views.
- Then, I even tried to find some news from “The Hill” about him, thinking maybe there’s some insider info there, but nope. Nothing substantial.
It’s like trying to find a needle in a haystack, except the needle is probably invisible. I thought maybe I am just nosy, you know? But hey, when a public figure, especially someone as big as Derek Jeter, is this tight-lipped about their beliefs, it makes you wonder. Anyway, that’s all I’ve got for now. It was a fun little investigation, even though it didn’t really lead anywhere. Just thought I’d share my little adventure into the mystery of Derek Jeter’s politics, or the lack thereof.
