Okay, so I was messing around the other day, and the name “Rex Hudler” popped into my head. I mean, I’ve heard that name before, you know? He’s that baseball guy, right? So I thought, “Why not dive into this dude’s life and see what’s up?”
First off, I typed “Rex Hudler” into the search bar. The results showed that this guy was born on September 2nd. I thought, “Cool, a Virgo!” Then I saw he was drafted by the New York Yankees in 1978. That’s way back! I guess that’s when he really kicked things off, baseball-wise.
I kept scrolling and found out that he was a big shot in his high school, Bullard High School. Apparently, Rex was a great athlete. They said he was one of the best all-round athletes from Fresno. It even mentioned he had a football scholarship waiting for him at Notre Dame. I guess he turned down football for baseball! He chose to chase fly balls instead of touchdowns.
Then, I found some comments from people who actually seemed to know him. One guy, I think his name was Danny, said that knowing Rex was like “learning what it means to be a true character.” He talked about Rex’s “animated personality” and “effervescent speech.” Sounds like a lively guy, huh?
I dug a little deeper and saw that Rex played for the St. Louis Cardinals at some point. There’s this funny story where he jokingly told the trainer, Gene Gieselmann, that he would do something crazy if he didn’t make the team.
Then came the more recent stuff.
- It seems like Rex became a TV color commentator for the Kansas City Royals in 2012.
- People online were saying he’s a “baseball lifer” and that he’s been “100% authentic and 100% consistent.”
- I also saw that Jeremy Guthrie was working with him as a color analyst for the Royals.
So, I spent a good chunk of my day going down this Rex Hudler rabbit hole. Turns out, he’s had quite the journey, from a high school star to a major league player, and now a broadcaster. And from what I’ve gathered, he’s always been a real character, full of energy and passion. Pretty cool, right? I guess sometimes it’s fun to just pick a random name and see where it takes you. You never know what kind of stories you’ll uncover!
