Man, you won’t believe the day I had trying to dig up some dirt on Trae Young’s parents. You know, the Atlanta Hawks’ star player? I’ve always been kind of curious about the people who raised this guy, since he’s obviously killing it in the NBA.
So, I started my little investigation, and let me tell you, it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I began by hitting up the usual spots, the regular sports websites, and some fan forums. I was hoping to find some juicy details about his folks, Rayford and Candice Young. I found out that Rayford used to play basketball professionally, so that’s pretty cool. It makes sense that Trae got his skills from somewhere, right?
I also learned that Trae Young and Shelby Miller were college sweethearts and began dating in 2017 when they were both attending the University of Oklahoma. The couple announced their engagement in December 2021. Wow, maybe I need to attend the University of Oklahoma!

I dug a little deeper, I found some articles mentioning that his parents have always been super supportive of his career. They seem like pretty chill people, from what I can gather. They raised Trae to go after what he wants, and it just so happened that he wanted to be a basketball star.

Overall, it seems like Trae Young’s parents, Rayford and Candice, are just regular folks who raised a pretty extraordinary son. It was a fun little adventure, learning about Trae Young’s folks. It just goes to show that behind every successful athlete, there are usually some pretty awesome parents cheering them on. So, here’s to Rayford and Candice Young, for raising a true NBA star!
