Okay, today I wanna share something about Minjee Lee. I got into her story a while back, a friend told me, “You should check out this golfer, Minjee Lee, she’s awesome!” So I did, and I was blown away.
I started by looking her up online, and here’s what I found out. Minjee Lee is this professional golfer from Perth, Australia. Born in 1996, which makes her not too old, she’s been making waves in the golfing world. I mean, I was shocked when I found out she became the number one amateur golfer in February 2014, it’s a huge deal! This happened right after she won the Oates Victorian Open. She held onto that number one spot until she turned pro in September of that same year.
And her path to pro is super inspiring. Apparently, she picked up golf when she was just 10 years old. Her mom worked at a local driving range, and that’s where Minjee’s love for the game started. She really got good, really fast. By 13, she was the youngest winner ever of the Western Australia Amateur Open. Just think about that for a second – 13 years old! She also won the U.S. Girls Junior Championship in 2012 and took home back-to-back Australian Women’s Amateur titles in 2013 and 2014. She turned pro in 2014, debuting at the Evian Championship.

Fast forward to 2021, she won her first major championship on July 25th. Winning a major is like the holy grail in golf, and she did it! I was so thrilled when I heard the news.
The more I dug into her story, the more impressed I got. It seems like everyone who knows golf knows Minjee Lee. I came across a quote from the CEO of Golf Australia, James Sutherland, who said, “Minjee Lee is one of the best players in the world. It is always a treat to watch her play.” And honestly, I couldn’t agree more.
