Alright, so I’ve been messing around with different army setups in Clash of Clans, specifically at Town Hall 9, and I gotta say, it’s been a wild ride. I started off thinking, “Oh, I’ll just throw some troops together and see what happens.” Yeah, that didn’t go so well.
My first few attempts were a total mess. I tried using a mix of giants and archers, thinking the giants would soak up damage while the archers picked off defenses. Nope. The defenses just mowed down my giants, and the archers followed soon after. Total fail.
Then, I got a bit smarter and started looking into some popular strategies. I learned about this thing called GoWiPe, which stands for Golem, Wizard, and Pekka. Sounded intense, so I gave it a shot. I trained up a couple of golems, a bunch of wizards, and a few pekkas. The idea is that the golems go in first and act like big, walking walls, drawing all the fire. While the defenses are busy with the golems, the wizards and pekkas sneak in behind and start smashing things up.
- First, deploy the Golems: I learned to spread them out a bit so they didn’t all get targeted by the same defenses at once.
- Next, send in the Wizards: I made a line of them behind the golems, making sure they were within range of the defenses but not taking too much fire themselves.
- Finally, unleash the Pekkas: These guys are slow but powerful, so I dropped them in a spot where they could make a beeline for the town hall or other high-value targets.
My first GoWiPe attack was a thing of beauty. The golems did their job perfectly, the wizards blasted away at the defenses, and the pekkas went on a rampage. I got a solid two-star victory, and I was hooked.
But I didn’t stop there. I also experimented with a few other setups. I tried using Ice Golems and Dragons, which was pretty fun. The ice golems freeze defenses when they’re destroyed, giving your dragons a bit more time to wreak havoc. It worked pretty well, especially against bases with lots of air defenses grouped together.
Another strategy I messed with was Baby Dragons, Witches, and Archers. The baby dragons are great for picking off buildings on the outside of the base, the witches summon skeletons to distract defenses, and the archers provide some ranged support. It’s a bit more of a finesse strategy, but it can be really effective if you use it right.
I even gave Valkyries a go, usually pairing them with some ice golems and baby dragons. Valks are beasts when they get into the core of a base, but they’re kinda fragile, so you gotta make sure they have a clear path.
My two cents
After all this experimenting, I realized there’s no one “best” army for TH9. It really depends on the base you’re attacking and your own personal style. But GoWiPe is definitely a solid choice if you’re looking for something reliable. And if you’re feeling adventurous, give those ice golems and dragons a try. Just be prepared to put in some practice to get the hang of things. Trust me, it’s worth it.
