Alright, let’s talk about this DQ to Matt Hamill. That Jones guy, he got himself into a mess, didn’t he? Got DQ’d in that fight, and people still talk about it.

They were in that big cage, you know, that UFC thing. Jones and Hamill, going at it. Now, I ain’t one for all that roughhousing, but they were throwin’ punches and kicks. Then Jones, he did something he shouldn’t have. Elbows, they were. Illegal ones. And that was it. Fight over. DQ. Matt Hamill, he got the win, I guess, but not how anyone wants to win.

- The ref, he saw it, stopped the fight.
People been sayin’ all sorts since then. Some say that Jones, he should have won, that the rule is silly. Others say a rule is a rule, and he broke it. Me? I just think it’s a shame. A darn shame. Two strong fellas, all that trainin’, and it ends like that.
What’s Matt Hamill Up To Now?
That Matt Hamill, he’s a tough one. He’s not a young chicken anymore, but he’s still got it. He used to wrestle, you know? Back in the day. They say he was real good, won all sorts of things. Three championships! Imagine that. He won three national championships. Can you believe it? And not just any championships, in three different weight classes. He was a real force, this Matt. And he was All-American, not just once, not twice, but three times! He was a champion three times. And all that in New York State. What a guy.
Now I hear he’s doin’ somethin’ with boxing. He is in the gym with some other guy, teachin’ young folks, I reckon. He’s got his own gym, that’s what they say. One up there, and one at home. He trains there, figures out how to fight, I suppose. He fights other fighters in private at home. What a guy.
This Whole DQ Thing
Now this whole DQ thing, it’s got people talking. Some fella, name of Andy, he wants to change the result of the fight. Says it ain’t right that Jones got that loss on his record. Like a stain, he says. But others, they ain’t so sure. They say that Matt Hamill, he won fair and square. Well, as fair and square as you can get in a fight that ends like that.
- This Andy fella, he’s in charge, I guess.
- He wants to change the past.
- But some folks, they say the past is the past.
- It’s all a big mess, if you ask me.
I heard that Dana White guy talking about it, too. He is some big shot in the UFC thing. Now he is saying that Matt Hamill‘s win should have been overturned long time ago. He really wants Jones to have a perfect record, without any losses. He seems to think Jones is the best, I guess.
What’s the Big Deal?
I don’t know why they make such a fuss over these things. It’s just a fight, ain’t it? Someone wins, someone loses. That’s how it goes. But they get all worked up, like it’s the end of the world. DQ, no DQ, it don’t change the fact that they both got in that cage and fought. And that takes guts, I’ll give ’em that. That Matt is getting older. But the guy is strong.
I heard that Matt Hamill guy, he’s tired of all this talk, too. He says he won, and that’s that. He don’t want people sayin’ he didn’t deserve it. And I can’t say I blame him. It’s his win, even if it ain’t the way he wanted it.

Some folks, they just can’t let things go. They gotta keep pickin’ at it, like a sore that won’t heal. But me, I think it’s best to just move on. Life’s too short to dwell on the past. Especially somethin’ as silly as a fight. But hey, that’s just my two cents. And what do I know? I’m just watchin’ it all go by.
This Matt must be a tough guy, though. To go through all that, and still be standin’. He’s got my respect, I’ll say that much. Even if I don’t understand all this fightin’ stuff. This DQ to Matt Hamill will be remembered for a long time, I reckon. But I hope they can all find some peace, somehow. That’s all any of us can hope for, ain’t it? A little peace and quiet.
