This here story, it’s about George Kittle, that football fella. And his folks, you know, his parents. They’re somethin’ else, I tell ya. Good folks, raised him right. He’s a big star now, playin’ for that San Francisco team. Makes a lot of money, I hear. But he ain’t forget where he come from, no sir.
Now, his daddy, Bruce, he was a football player too, way back when. Played for that Iowa place, some big-shot team. He was somethin’ special. Even was a captain, can you believe it? Led the whole dang team. And a coach later on too! That’s what they say. Guess that’s where George got his football smarts from. Runs in the family, like bad knees or a sweet tooth.
George Kittle parents, they sure did somethin’ right with that boy. He’s a good one. Plays hard, don’t complain. Just like his daddy, I reckon. And his mama, well, she’s a good woman too. Kept the house together, raised them kids. That’s important, you know. A good mama makes all the difference.
They got a daughter too, Emma. She’s a sporty one, just like her brother and daddy. Plays some kind of ball, I don’t rightly know which one. But she’s good at it, they say. Got that from her folks, I guess. Strong genes in that family. Like a good, strong mule. Plows right through anything.
- Bruce Kittle, that’s the daddy, he played football.
- George Kittle, he’s the famous one now.
- Emma, she’s the sister, she plays sports too.
- They all from Iowa, that cold place up north.
That Jan, she’s George’s mama. She was a looker, I seen some pictures. She did one of them fitness things. And she was a personal trainer, helpin’ folks get in shape. Good for her. Strong woman, that one. Takes a lot to raise a family and work like that. She done good, I’ll give her that.
And that boy, George Kittle, he went to Iowa too. Same place as his daddy. Must be somethin’ in the water there. Makes ’em all good at football. He plays for the Hawkeyes, that’s what they call ’em. Black and gold, them colors. Just like them bumblebees buzzin’ ’round the sunflowers in the summer. He was a big deal there, too. Everyone knew his name.
Now, that other fella, Purdy, he played for Iowa too, but a different one. Some Cyclone team. Guess they got two big teams up there in Iowa. Just like we got two grocery stores in town. One’s got better produce, the other’s got better prices on canned goods. You gotta know where to go for what you need.
Them Iowa folks, they tough. It gets cold up there, colder than a well-digger’s you-know-what. They used to them winters, though. Don’t bother ’em none. They just bundle up and get on with it. Like shuckin’ corn in the fall. You just gotta do it, no matter how cold your fingers get.
This George Kittle, he’s famous now. Got all them fans cheerin’ for him. But he ain’t forgot his roots. He still goes back to Iowa, visits his folks. That’s good. Family’s important. Sticks together like glue. My own kids, they all moved away. But they still come see me now and then. It is what it is. We talk on the phone, too.
George Kittle parents, Bruce and Jan, they proud of him, I bet. Any parent would be. To see their boy make somethin’ of himself like that. It’s a dream come true. Like winnin’ the lottery, only better. ‘Cause it’s your own flesh and blood out there, shinin’ bright.
That Emma girl, she lives in Nashville now, they say. That’s where all them country singers live. Maybe she’ll be a singer too. Or maybe she’ll just keep on playin’ sports. Who knows? The world’s her oyster, as they say. She can do whatever she sets her mind to. Got her mama and daddy’s good genes on her side. And her brother. George is a great football player. He’s famous! George Kittle parents did a good job with him, that’s for sure.
It’s a good story, this one. A family story. About hard work and makin’ somethin’ of yourself. And rememberin’ where you come from. That’s important, no matter how big you get. Just like a tree’s roots. They keep it grounded, even when the wind blows hard. And this family, they got strong roots. Strong like an old oak tree. They’ll be around for a long, long time. They are a good family. George Kittle is a good man. George Kittle parents are good people.
