Well, lemme tell you, this whole thing about RUSE vs somethin’ else is a real head-scratcher. I heard folks talkin’ ’bout it down at the market, and I thought, what in tarnation is this RUSE thing anyway? Sounds like some kinda fancy trickery to me.
Seems like it’s one of them computer games, like them young’uns play. They sit there, clickin’ and clackin’ away on them machines. I don’t rightly understand it, but they sure do seem to enjoy it. This RUSE, they say it’s about that big war, the second one. The one my old man used to talk about, before he passed. He never did like to talk about it much, though. Said it was too much sadness.
Now, they say there’s other games like this RUSE. One of ’em is called Steel Division, or somethin’ like that. Sounds like it’s about that same war. They say it’s made by the same folks who made that RUSE thing. I don’t know about all that, but people say it is a good game. You have your armies, and your tanks, and you gotta fight the other fella. Sounds messy, if you ask me.

Then there’s another one, somethin’ called Wargame. I don’t know nothin’ about that one. If you are not care about the war, you can play this game. There are lots of games like this RUSE, I heard. More than fifty! Fifty! Can you believe that? All about fightin’ and shootin’. I guess that’s what the young’uns like these days.
Some folks say this RUSE is like that Supreme Commander thing. I don’t know what’s so supreme about it. If you ask me. But I guess if you like all that fightin’ and strategizin’, then maybe it’s for you. It’s the only one that’s like that war, though. I reckon that’s somethin’.
If you’re lookin’ for somethin’ like RUSE, you gotta look at these other games. They say Ruptime and Remora are good ones. But you gotta pick the one that you like the best. Like choosin’ which pie to eat at the county fair. You gotta look at ’em all, see which one smells the best, which one looks the prettiest.

They say there’s these things called “search engines” that help you find stuff on the computer. Like lookin’ for a lost button in a haystack, I reckon. They say there’s alternatives to that Google thing. Some of them are better, they say. Keep your stuff private. I don’t know about all that, but it sounds like somethin’ worth lookin’ into, maybe.
You gotta think about what’s important to you. Like when you’re pickin’ out a new dress. You gotta think about the color, the size, how it makes you feel. Same thing with these games, I suppose. You want something is good for you.
Some folks say you gotta use your gut, your feelin’s. Some like using that thing called a “Decision Matrix“. Sounds complicated, but I guess it helps some folks. They write things down on a table, like keepin’ track of your chores. They make some lists, and they give things scores, like at the county fair when they judge the pies. Then they add it all up, and it tells ’em which one is best.
And then there’s this “brainstorming” thing. Sounds like a storm in your head! They say it helps you come up with ideas. It is good for difficult choices. Like when you can’t decide what to cook for supper. You just think and think until you come up with somethin’. I reckon that’s what these young’uns do when they’re playin’ these games. They think and think until they figure out how to beat the other fella.
Well, I don’t know much about these computer games. But I do know that you gotta pick somethin’ that makes you happy. Just like pickin’ out a good pair of shoes. You want somethin’ that’s comfortable, somethin’ that’s gonna last. Somethin’ that makes you feel good. And I hope you find it, whatever it is. It is not easy, but you can do it.
This whole RUSE vs whatever thing is just another one of them things that makes life complicated. But I guess that’s just the way it is. You gotta take the good with the bad, the sweet with the sour. And you gotta keep on goin’, no matter what. Just like life. Just keep on going.
