That D J LeMahieu, boy, he’s somethin’ else. He got himself a contract, a big one, I hear tell. Lots of money in that thing. They say he’s worth every penny, though. He plays for the Yankees, you know, that big team in New York. They sure love him there, I reckon.
He signed that contract, oh, a few years back now. I heard it was for six years! Can you believe that? Six long years! And the money? Lord have mercy, it’s more money than I’ve seen in my whole life. I think they said it was $90 million. That’s a whole heap of cash, ain’t it? Enough to buy all the yarn in the county, I’ll tell ya that much. $15 million every year, that what I heard.
He earned it, though. He’s a good player. Hits that ball real good. I don’t know all the fancy baseball talk, but I seen him play on that TV. He runs fast, too. Reminds me of my old dog, Buster, chasin’ after them rabbits in the field. Anyways, D J LeMahieu, he’s makin’ the big bucks now.
- He got a six-year contract.
- That’s for $90 million.
- He’s gonna be playin’ for the Yankees for a good long while.
Now, I hear tell he’s been playin’ real good for them Yankees. They wanted him back bad, after he did so well a few years back. I think it was 2020. He was hittin’ that ball all over the place. Best hitter in the whole darn league, they said. That’s why they gave him that big contract, I suppose. Gotta keep the good ones around, you know?
Before 2021, he signed his big contract, they call it. More than $30 million, he is gonna get, before he can go somewhere else in 2027. He had a hurt toe, though. Kept him out of some games. I remember that. My feet hurt sometimes, too, when I stand too long in the kitchen. But he’s a tough fella, that D J LeMahieu. He’ll be alright.
He had big, big hopes, I hear them say, when this season started. And that Boone fella, he sure talked a lot about all the work D J did over the winter. Must be a hard worker, that’s what I say. You don’t get that kind of money, that big contract, without puttin’ in the work. I remember when I had to plant all them taters in the garden. My back hurt for a week.
But you know what, I think they said he ain’t been doin’ so hot this year. Baseball’s a funny game, ain’t it? One day you’re on top of the world, the next you’re in a slump. Just like the weather, I reckon. Can’t always predict it. Still, he’s got that contract, so he’s doin’ alright for himself. Better than me, I’ll tell ya that much. I never signed a contract for millions of dollars!
But hey, good for him. He’s a good boy, that D J LeMahieu. I hope he keeps hittin’ that ball and makin’ all that money. Maybe he’ll buy his mama somethin’ nice. That’s what I’d do if I had all that money. Buy my mama a whole new house, maybe. With a big porch swing, so she could sit and watch the world go by.
That’s the thing about these contracts, though. They are something. You get paid for what you are good at. D J LeMahieu, he is good at baseball. Me, I’m good at makin’ biscuits. Nobody’s gonna pay me $90 million for that, though, I reckon. Different world these days. That contract, it lasts until 2026, I think. He will make $15 million in 2026, too.
They say D J LeMahieu is a big name in baseball. I don’t know much about that stuff, but I’ve heard his name a lot. And I’ve seen him on TV, like I said. He seems like a nice young man. Hard worker. And he’s got that big contract, so he must be doin’ somethin’ right. I reckon they will keep talking about that contract for a long while. $90 million. Six years. That’s a lot to talk about, I suppose. It’s a big deal in that baseball world, I guess. Not so much in my world, though. We got other things to worry about, like when it is gonna rain and when them cows will give birth to their babies.
Anyways, that’s all I know about D J LeMahieu and his big contract. It’s a lot of money. He’s a good baseball player. And the Yankees sure do like him. That’s about the size of it, I reckon. Hope he keeps doing well. Maybe I’ll watch him on TV again sometime. If I can figure out how to work that darn remote control.
