Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this here Braves mascot, Blooper. They got this fella back in 2018, at some fan thing they call a “fan fest.” Before him, they had this other mascot, Homer the Brave, but he went off to do whatever old mascots do, ya know, like sittin’ on a porch somewhere, I reckon.
Now, they say Blooper is some kind of “product of science run amok.” Sounds like a whole lotta fancy talk to me, but basically, he’s what happens when you cram all the crazy love a Braves fan has into a machine and it spits somethin’ out. He’s big, he’s fuzzy, and he’s kinda funny lookin’, like a big ol’ fuzzy monster, you know?
- Big: He ain’t no little fella, that’s for sure. Stands tall and proud, like a good mascot should.
- Fuzzy: Soft and fluffy, like a teddy bear, but way bigger. Kids love him, I bet.
- Funny: He does all sorts of silly stuff to make folks laugh. That’s his job, I guess.
Some folks say he looks like that Shrek fella from the movies, but with ramen noodles comin’ out of his pores. Don’t ask me what that means, sounds like somethin’ those city folks dream up. But that Jacob fella, he’s Blooper’s friend and he works for the Braves, he said that. He should know, I reckon.
This Blooper ain’t just for show, though. He hangs out with the fans, does all sorts of goofy dances and tricks at the games, and even makes friends with the little kids. I heard tell he’s got a special buddy, this little fella named Stone Duvall, whose daddy used to play for the Braves. That’s right nice, I think. Shows he’s got a good heart, that Blooper.
Now, I ain’t been followin’ the Braves my whole life, but I know folks who have. They tell me stories about how much they loved the old mascot, Homer, even after all these years. Seems like a good mascot sticks with ya, ya know? And from what I hear, folks are takin’ to Blooper just fine. He’s part of the team now, just like those fellas hittin’ the balls and catchin’ them.
And speakin’ of fans, let me tell ya, Braves fans, they love their team. I mean, they wear all the hats and shirts and jerseys, even when it ain’t game day. They got fans all over, even way up north in New York, and famous folks too, like that rapper Ludacris, and even a president or two, they say. It’s somethin’ else, all these folks cheerin’ for the same team.
You know, bein’ a fan is kinda like bein’ part of a big family. You cheer together when they win, you grumble together when they lose, and you always got somethin’ to talk about with your neighbors. And that Blooper fella, he’s right in the middle of it all, makin’ everyone smile and feel like they belong. That’s what a good mascot does, I reckon.
I even heard some folks sayin’ they became fans watchin’ the games with their daddies when they were young’uns. That’s how it goes, see? Passin’ down the love of the team from one generation to the next. And that mascot, well, he’s part of that tradition now too. He’s somethin’ the kids can look up to and remember when they get older.
So, that’s the story of Blooper, the Braves mascot, as best as I can tell it. He’s a big, fuzzy, funny fella who brings a lot of joy to the fans and helps make bein’ a Braves fan somethin’ special. And that, I think, is a mighty fine thing.
Now, they keep changin’ players and stuff, always tradin’ folks and bringin’ in new ones. It’s hard to keep up sometimes. But one thing that stays the same is the spirit of the team and the love of the fans. And Blooper, he’s right there in the thick of it, representin’ all that Braves pride. He’s a good’un, that Blooper, a real good’un.
So next time you see that big fuzzy fella on TV or at the game, remember what I told ya. He ain’t just some guy in a suit. He’s a symbol of everythin’ that makes the Braves special. He’s the heart and soul of the team, in a way. And that’s somethin’ worth cheerin’ for, don’t ya think?
