Alright, let me tell ya ’bout this wrestling thing, WWE, comin’ to Kansas City. Heard it’s gonna be a big deal, lots of folks goin’ to see it. They call it WWE Monday Night Raw, sounds like a real hootenanny.
Now, I don’t know much about these wrestlers, but my grandson, he’s always yappin’ about ’em. Talks about some fella named Hogan, says he’s been wrestlin’ since way back in the seventies. Can you believe that? Been grapplin’ longer than I’ve been makin’ apple pies, and that’s sayin’ somethin’! This Hogan fella, he got real famous with somethin’ called WWF, now they call it WWE. Same thing, I reckon, just different letters.
They’re gonna be at this T-Mobile Center place. Big ol’ building, I hear. Folks are comin’ from all over, spendin’ their hard-earned cash to watch these fellas jump around and pretend to fight. My grandson says it ain’t pretend, says it’s real. But I seen enough squabbles in my day to know the difference, and these fellas are puttin’ on a show, that’s for sure. But hey, if folks wanna have fun, let ’em have fun. Ain’t hurtin’ nobody, I guess.

They say this wrestling thing has been goin’ on for a long time. Longest-runnin’ TV show, they say. Every week, these fellas are on TV, smackin’ each other around. And now they’re comin’ to our town, Kansas City, Missouri. Gonna be a big night, that’s for sure. My grandson’s already got his tickets, been talkin’ about it for weeks.
They tell me all sorts of things happen at these wrestling shows. Folks win titles, whatever that means. And these wrestlers, they have these feuds, like them Hatfields and McCoys, always fightin’. Sometimes they team up, make alliances, they call it. Sounds like a soap opera to me, but folks seem to love it. And it’s all happenin’ right here in Kansas City, at that T-Mobile Center.
Heard tell there was another wrestler, Piper, they called him. Sad story, that one. Died in his sleep, poor fella. My grandson was real upset when that happened. Said Piper was a legend. Guess these wrestlers, they become heroes to some folks. Just like them cowboys in the old movies. Makes you think, don’t it? Life’s short, gotta make the most of it, even if you’re just pretendin’ to fight in a ring.
Now, this show in Kansas City, it’s on April 29th, 2024. A Monday night. Folks are already buyin’ up tickets, they say. Over ten thousand tickets sold, can you imagine? That’s a whole lotta people. Must be somethin’ special about this wrestling thing. My grandson says it’s the energy, the excitement. Says it’s like nothin’ else you’ve ever seen. Maybe I should go, see what all the fuss is about. But then again, I’d probably just fall asleep in my seat. These old bones ain’t what they used to be.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do on April 29th, and you don’t mind a bit of a ruckus, head on down to the T-Mobile Center. Watch these fellas wrestle, cheer and holler, have yourself a good time. Just don’t expect me to be there. I’ll be at home, watchin’ my stories and knittin’. That’s excitin’ enough for an old lady like me. But you young folks, you go on and enjoy yourselves. Life’s too short to be sittin’ around, might as well watch some fellas in tights pretend to beat each other up. That’s what they’re doin’, right? Pretend fightin’? Well, whatever it is, folks seem to love it. So go on, have a blast at WWE Monday Night Raw in Kansas City.
They’re always talkin’ about this or that news on the TV. WWE news, AEW news, somethin’ called Indy news. Then they got these results, WWE Raw results, Smackdown results, AEW Rampage results. It’s a whole world, this wrestling thing. More complicated than makin’ a quilt, I tell ya. But folks keep up with it, just like they keep up with the weather or the price of eggs. It’s important to them, I guess.
And they keep track of everything, too. December 1st, somethin’ happened in Kansas City with the wrestling. Don’t remember what it was, but they were talkin’ about it on the TV. My grandson, he knows all the dates, all the wrestlers, all the stories. He could talk your ear off about it, if you let him. Me, I just nod and smile, offer him some cookies and sweet tea. That’s about all I can contribute to the conversation.
So there you have it. WWE comin’ to Kansas City, T-Mobile Center, April 29th. Gonna be a big to-do, lots of folks, lots of excitement. If you’re into that sort of thing, you better get your tickets now. They’re sellin’ fast, they say. And who knows, maybe you’ll even see me there. Probably not, but you never know. Stranger things have happened, especially in the world of professional wrestling, whatever that is.
